Best friends turned dating is complicated and I am that way I had a really close guy friend and me and him ended up dating and today were still dating, I am glad he finally asked me but the reason he isn't probably because he does truly love you and wants to be with you but is afraid that if you two do date and break up you wont be able to be back to your old selves and he will think he has lost the most important thing in his life, its hard but once you two take the plunge, it could turn out to be worth it because my best friend (boyfriend now) always told me the guys I went out with werent good enough for me and now he has taken the spot and we are about to have our 1 year anniversary and I am very proud to call him my guy. So I hope it works out for you. They are probably the best to date because they actually treat you right.

Wow. Well, if he truly loves you then he'd want to go out with you. Unless he's planning on using you and then abusing you (if you know what I mean.) Just don't let sex ever come into the picture until you are married. You will save yourself a lot of heartache and STDs.

when he says he's just scared that your friendship may end if you cross the threshold, he's saying the truth. I think you should consider yourself extremely blessed. Not all of us will necessarily think of it that way. Most of other guys would probably just jump at the opporturnity, so you've got a thinking guy there. Cherish him. He's rare.

he might love your friendship and if he dates you and you guys end up breaking up, he loses you as a friend as well.
He is scared, let him think it over, he is trying to decide what is more important at this point... you in his life (even is only a friend) or not having you in his life at all.....

Just give things time... it should work out in the end.
I know someone who likes a girl, but doesn't want to go out with her, simply because he's a tad love-shy.

Heh, prtty much same with me. I am really sorry, but chances are he won't go out with you, but want to stay friends. You could tell him that if you date then brake up you will stay friends. Work on it there, and you may get a chance.

i can understand where he is coming from. what if u do hook up and something goes wrong? that is going to mess up ur friendship then u won't be talking anymore. but they also say that the best relationships comes from being friends first. so talk to him but don't pressure him. if it is meant then it will happen. love is patient.

I think he doesnt want to **** it up
it sounds like what you have is REALLY great, and he doesnt want to lose that
just give it time-and I would wait to be a little older-just to give it time
