If you just know English, the declensions may take some getting used to. I studied a semester of Latin before I took up Russian so it wasn't as hard for me, but don't be afraid to take it slow so everything has time to sink in.
Personally, I think it's a beautiful language and they have an amazing history of literature. One of the reasons I started studying it was because I wanted to read Dostoevsky in Russian, but it still takes me about an hour to read just one page. I guess I need more practice. ;D
Another good thing to do while you're learning is to check your local library to see if they have an Russian primers. Sometimes they have poetry or short stories in Russian or short historical descriptions, which can be very interesting but at the same time be much easier to read for people starting out.
And if you have extended tv channels, make sure to check to see if there's any programming in Russian. I sometimes watch the news on a channel they have here, and afterwards they show a couple of music videos in Russian. I found the lyrics online so that's helped me a little bit too.

I learnt Russian in primary school and it was quite easy for me because it's very similar to Polish (my native lg),except, of course, the writing system - it gets confusing when you have to read "g" as "d" or "p" as "r", but can get used to it.
Besides the words decline so you need to learn different word forms depending on the usage of the word in a sentence.
The pronunciation is very close at the front of your mouth, that's why there are lots of great singers in Russia - they are naturally well-equiped for singing.
It all depends on your mother tongue - if there are some similarities, it should not be so hard. I hope you manage. Good luck!

Well, first of all, is it going to be useful to you? It doesn't matter if it's beautiful or pretty, in the end if you're not going to use it, it's going to be a waste of time and effort. I studied Chinese, and I backpacked to Taiwan for a whole year, plus I'm going to major in international business and finance. So, I'm sure what I learned will be useful to me down the line. Also, if you don't use it, you lose it!

It is rather complicated. It comes from Slavic languages, without any relationship to english. I would not say that it is pretty, but that is only my opinion
