Your FM modulator should be able to be set up to transmit on several different frequency's. You need to pick a clear spot on your FM car radio in that range and then set the modulator to that frequency. The modulator will have a strong signal and will hold your FM radio below the 20db quieting point so even a weak FM station on that same frequency shouldn't be a problem.

MP3 players can be connected to cars in a few different ways. FM Transmitters work "ok." They jam up a frequency (usually in the 88's) and play the sound from your MP3 player. They are usually very staticy, wont work in certain areas, and are hard to get a nice clear and loud volume from them. There are also cassette desks with a cable running from them. The casette goes into the cassette deck in your car and the other end plugs into the headphone jack of your MP3 player. These are somewhat cumbersome, but will offer the best sound quality over the FM transmitter.

I had to unscrew my antenna on my Matrix. I work near NYC where all the stations were used or are megawatt stations which bled over. The sound quality was so poor I just quit using it.

you have to set the frequency on the mp3 player to a channel that doesn't get used. Like 88.3....88.5...stations like those. Then you hook the player up, then turn your radio to that station...as soon as you have them both on the same frequency/channel....it should work.
:o)

You need to find a station that has no previous transmissions to. A clear one.
