Depending on service, you can check it through the website it stems from.

For example the Army is:

http://www.us.army.mil , log in and go to e-mail button on the top right.

Now unit specific e-mail address such as the 1st Infantry Division, is a locally controlled address and will need to be setup through the Signal Corps offices.

if its your.name@navy.mil, its an NMCI address. You need to be logged into an NMCI computer to check it. OR you can check it online through Outlook Web access but you need to have a CAC reader on your personal computer. You should be able to get a CAC reader from your Reserve Center's IT department.

Those are the only methods I know of checking the NMCI email, but there may be other, easier methods

You're unit/ship should have a web page. Log into that page and look for a "webmail" link. Click that, log in, check your email.

If you're talking about the NKO, then you log in, check your mail.
