If you're traveling with kids I would recommend the route through Gettysburg. There will be more to do along the way, more interesting things to see than on a plain old boring Interstate, and you might as well give them the memories and the history lesson in the process. The Lincoln Memorial might be worth stoppying by on the way up to complete the theme. The non-Interstate way will also let you travel at a more relaxed place since the journey will take two days' worth of driving. The Interstate route is about 9 hours long and can be squeezed into one day, but the other route will be less stressful and more rewarding. That's my take at least.

Monuments and memorials, diverse neighbourhoods, correct local flavour this is exactly what Washington, DC is; a place unlike some other; the same as this page hotelbye . Washington it's your home overseas with free museums and America's top yard. Washington is recognized all over the world as a image of the United States. Here, the area you cannot miss may be the Capitol. Capitol could be the seat of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The big dome, based on the dome of St. Peter's in Rome, stands out especially other Washington buildings. Like Washington it self, the creating has grown over time since the key section was created between 1793 and 1812. The last addition, in 1958-62, increased the main façade where presidents get the oath. On one other side, a marble terrace presents lovely views within the mall and the city. The inner is resplendent with frescoes, reliefs, and paintings, particularly the rotunda beneath the great cast-iron dome with a roof painting by Constantino Brumidi and enormous paintings of displays from American record on the walls.

I like the second route better because I've been on a bus tour from D.C. to Canada on that route. Gettysburg has a lot of tourist attractions like the liberty bell (I don't really remember). Corning is a wonderful place for kids to enjoy because it's fun. Pay about $5 or more to watch a guy blow a glass piece from scratch! It's an amazing process of how they make vases and stuff. There is a floor that you can buy stuff they made, another floor of exhibits of creative glass designs, and another floor that your kids can play and learn the history. Niagra is beautiful, be sure to cross the border into Canada and go to a tower that looks like an observation tower, like the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas. It's right across the border you can't miss it.

I've never heard of multi-city packages like that. Look for an Air/Hotel package in Orlando, and get the other hotels separately, from Hotwire if you're looking for low prices. It sounds like you're coming from outside the US. Do you know how far it is from Niagara Falls to NYC or DC? It's a full day's trip by car or train from Niagara Falls to NY, farther than that to DC. Also, five days in Orlando is too much unless you really, really, REALLY like plastic corporate theme parks. I'd spend more time in NY and DC which are actually interesting. One full day at Niagara is plenty to see the falls and whirlpool and ride the Maid of the Mist boat.

take the penna thruway unless you want to stop along the way and sightsee. I've driven that route many times with few problems, but there's not much along the way to entertain the kids with.
