Lets get something straight:
You're not calling me or anyother christian stupid or a nut case or a crackhead, are u?
Because if u r, I have a question 4 ur a$$.
Here it goes:
Why is it that people must categporize all christians as insane and all atheists as intellectuals? Does it make u guys feel better about urselves by putting others down?
I'll leave u with this:
You can b a scholar.
You can even graduate at the top of your class , and be the most well-paid.
But in the end, intellectuality, as well as wealth, are all just earthly possessions. You certainly cant take smarts 2 Heaven witchu.
All that will matter is whether or not ur saved .I am almost certain that there are probably more "educated" persons in hell than in Heaven, because they beleive that they themselves are gods.you so called "intellectuals" need 2 git over urselves!!!!

I know of several scientists who are profound believers in God, and I have met some mentally ill people, who even though they were considerably ill, were nonetheless intelligent people who could make choices about their beliefs. So, there is really no way to generalize who believes and who does not. The most important thing for you is to make your own choice and not feel that you have to be atheist because you are an intelligent or feel pulled towards the wacky side of religion because that is your experience with your family. There are all varieties and stages of belief, but it is a personal matter for you to determine what is best for you.

most of the top scientists aren't athiests. they just don't go to church very often because they get yelled at by the born again crowd. A lot of those psychotic street people are fed daily by charities that make them listen to a sermon before they are allowed to eat, they fixate on something that is important in their lives, the sermon that keeps them from being hungry. Also, a lot of the born again crowd actually believe that the mentally ill are posessed by demons and keep telling them that if they become 'saved' they will be healthy and free again. The delusional leading the delusional

It all begins in your childhood. Your mother and father force thier beliefs on your innoccent mind. If you have no concience of your own, you continue to believe what others feed you. Such as a belief in ghosts or aliens from another planet, or bigfoot, for that matter. When you grow older, your inner strength becomes apparent... how hard you pull from your parental grip. Do you start to read other information than what you've been fed? Do you go against your parents wishes? Such as going to other religions? Visiting other churches? Asking questions of your elders, that they don't approve of? Like, "If there is a God, why do bad things happen to good people?" The norm on that question is, " God is testing your faith and resolve". Why test? Havn't I been a good Christian? Maybe I havn't been good enough! That's just it...that's the TRUTH of Christianity. It was invented by elders who wanted to hold power over more unintellegent people. "You havn't been good enough/faithfull enough/given enough....you need to be punished! And like a fatherfigure wielding his belt over our heads, those elders use the threat of an angry God to punish. Promises of an afterlife in glory for those who follow the RULES. I lived fourty years believing in my parents' God; a God who would love and protect me, I don't anymore. If I am wrong, and on some heavnly shore he gathers me in his arms and asks me why? I will ask the same of him.

You are wrong, you judge the whole world by your family. Travel a little bit, it might help. Where did you get your statistics from. I've worked in mental hospitals and I say if 90% of the mentally ill patients were christians, they would't be mentally ill.

Exactly. Neither Albert Einstein nor Steven Hawking, considered to be two of the smartest human beings ever, believe(d) in a personal god.
Edit: I just noticed an above answer mentions both of these men, that answerer is incorrect.

THEY said the SAME THING's bout' JESUS, and HE started it all!!!!!
Now as far as Scientist's go:
I came up with this Idea long time ago, IMAGINE----when they signed the Declaration of Independance, they were all in a ROOM. In that ROOM was TALKING agoin'g on!!!! NOW, there was this thing called a Quill-Pen. We all know that SOUND VIBRATION's VIBRATE thing's!!!! Why don't they examine the Signature's on that Declaration of Independance, decode the SOUND VIBRATION's in the INK that DRYED in that ROOM---using SUPER-COMPUTER's and LASER REFRACTOR's and let us HEAR what was being SAID when they SIGNED IT!!!!! How's that for SCIENCE Buster?????
p.s. If I had a Super-Computer and a Laser Refractor I would of already done it myself. Sorry, don't have any. Ditto!!!!!!!

1 cor. 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased thru the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.....27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to SHAME THE WISE, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,...that no man should boast b4 God

Well, to fully understand science, it is best to not have a belief or religion weigh in on things. Like, "the cure to depression is God". That may be valuable advice, but its no cure. Also, people who are mentally ill may experience things that they swear are divine, or God inspired.

Read the Bible. Jesus talks AGAINST the street preachers. Keep in mind also God copmforts those in need. If you were stung-out on drugs wouldn't you be trying to find some other way to be comforted.
