I've always been that way. I'd much rather type a letter to someone than actually sit down face-to-face with them and have a conversation, or talk to them on the phone.
It's just easier to spill your guts when you don't have to look them in the eye or answer questions that they might have.
I don't think there's a problem with you.

we all experience this from time to time. sometimes more than others. speaking to someone that you have even the smallest interest in gets mentally confusing because we are speaking and we are thinking so very hard on how we would love to be successful. I recently lost my job and found myself in many interviews. The ones I was very successful at were the ones where i mentally focused on just speaking to a friend or acquaintance. At first, i was so focused on getting the job, I could hear my inner voice saying "forget all the talking, do i have the job or what?!" Ignore it and just focus on the other person, effective listening goes a long way. good luck.

From what I understand, speech comes from a different area of the brain from that which handles thinking and eye-hand coordination.
I always think better on paper. It is not a problem, it is just the way we are. I went to an organization like Toastmasters to learn how to public speak in all situations. There are books on how to make acceptable conversation in various situations. It involves thinking in advance, and practice.
With practice, you may feel more comfortable speaking the words that you have no problem writing.

There's definitely a difference between written and oral communications skills in many if not most people. I'm one like you. I'm not bad at expressing myself in writing. But let me try to tell you what I think when we're face to face? Forget it. I probably will appear dull, if not stupid. My brain shuts down, goes blank and I just can't think what to say.
I think it has to do with how we access our thought processes in our brain, and the link between speech and that thought or writing and thought. We're all just wired a little different in the brain.
Know your strength and use it. If possible write when you want to seriously express yourself. I'm a different person on the internet then in person- and for that very reason. It's been a Godsend to my social life.

At least you are trying to communicate. It does take some practice, though. The written word can be perfected(erased, etc),but when you speak it is "straight from your heart",..and most women have the same problems.Weigh your options, write or speak.I vote to try and continue speaking with women who understand your hesitations ,are only ,"your heart trying to shine"!!

I am definitely, exactly the same way. And it has nothing to do with being afraid of speaking. It is just easier to communicate that way.

It gives you time to think, and no matter how nervous you get you can't stutter while you type. wel i guess you can but you can go back and fix it. We all do this from time to time and it just takes finding yur own ways to get over your nerves.
