Hmmm...that's not too good. Have you been really stressed lately? I'm the same age, and I know that when my parents are really stressing me out or I have an exam coming up or something, I don't sleep as much. Talk to your parents about going to your physician and they should be able to help you. Good luck and hope you get some sleep! =D

No, you do not need to go to the ER, but you probably should see a sleep specialist. See your primary care physician for a screening, and maybe a physical exam, first, and see if s/he'll give you a referral to a sleep specialist. A sleep specialist will have you stay overnight in a clinic, hooked up to monitors overnight, so they can figure our what's wrong.

9 hours is not an abnormal amount of time to sleep for some people--that's a wrong answer, too.

The reason that you're having trouble with your short-term memory is because you're not getting enough sleep.

Many things can cause a sudden onset of sleep loss--anything from neurological problems to emotional problems to taking speed. (Note: If you're taking speed, then knock it off--it's one of the worst things that you can do to yourself. But I think that you're NOT doing that, because if you were, then you'd know darned-well why you couldn't sleep, and you would not have written this question. Still, though, when answering questions, it's best to cover all the bases, don't you think?)

Its normal, and is probably caused by stress. Lots of teenagers have sleeping problems in the summer months. try drinking a large glass of warm milk (yes, adding chocolate is fine) and taking 2 tylenol or advil half an hour before you go to sleep. it should help you relax for a longer time during sleep. Your memory loss is caused by not getting enough sleep.

Your body is going through a hormone change, and that's OK. You are at the age when a lot of stuff is going through your mind and body, It's called growing-up. Try some herbal tea, like sleepy time. You can get it in the grocery store.

actually, your getting too much sleep if your sleeping 9 hours, as for the other stuff, I strongly suggest you go see your family doctor, and explain to him/her, what is happening, they will probably run some test to find out if you have a vitamin defiency, etc..
