go to your vet and get a flea product from him/her. Do not purchase anything over the counter as they usually do not work at all. 3 months is old enough for most flea products that you purchase through a vet.

No, he's not too young for flea preventitive. It can be started when they are puppies. I have a 7 week old Boxer puppy (we've had her 2 weeks). She's not old enough yet for flea medicine, but we do have a flea collar on her. The box said we could put it on at 6 weeks old. Check with your vet about this. Advantage or Frontline are the best.

Sorry about you puppy, give puppy a bath everyday until you cannot see fleas, Dishsoap works, and start from the head to the tail, and then go the vet and get a bug bomb for fleas, and follow directions from the vet, Mild dishsoap and this is best fleas will die,Remember fleas can jump, and this way washing from the head first and working down the cannot jump, happy flea killing.

Frontline Plus is the best product I've come across. I haven't had trouble with fleas on my dog since we started using it a couple years ago. We go camping every weekend during the summer and we have no problems. It'll get rid of the fleas he's got now, and kill any that TRY to hitch a ride or make a home on your puppy. You can order it online w/o a script. Or you can get it at the vet's office.

Just make sure you get the treatment that is for young puppies, especially one so small. Be sure and check for tape and round worm as well. A puppy that young with fleas may have other things not so easily seen.

Who told you he's too young for a flea treatment? I believe Ovitrol, Sentinel, and Revolution are all safe for that age. Those are high quality products from a veterinarian. The Hartz products over the counter may be toxic to a young animal though..
Your puppy needs to start on its vaccines anyway, why not consult your vet for more info and help.

Take it to the vet, or spray it with the flea spray from Hartz.I don't think the cat terrier will mind if the rat terrier uses it.

i have two shih-tzu's and i use k9 advantix it is so good because it takes care of fleas for a full 6 weeks instead of frontline which only works for 4, i have used both. also k9 advantix repels mosiquitos and ticks, they have not had a tick stick the whole year and we live on a farm so there are alot of trees to pick up those nasty things, i am happy if i don't have to mess with ticks and fleas.
