You don't really need to uninstall it. Just don't use it. Also, there are a few sites that prefer IE. I used it to DL Mozilla Firefox and now rarely use it.

There is no way in which you can completely remove Internet explorer from your computer because of the fact that it is integrated with the operating system. It is not recommended to completely remove internet explorer from the computer.
The thing that you can do is, you can remove local access to internet explorer.
The following steps will help you do that in Windows XP Home edition.
Click on Start
Click on control panel
click on 'add or remove programs'
click on 'add or remove windows components' (on the left side of the window)
wait till the window populates completely
then look for 'internet explorer'
uncheck it
click next
wait till the installation is complete
exit out of 'add or remove programs'
restart your computer
DONE!

This works in XP, but I'm not sure of previous versions.
First go to control panel, then add/remove programs. After the window comes up, click on the 3rd button that says "Add/remove windows components". Another window will pop up that has a list of components. You should see "Internet Explorer" with a blue E to the left and a checkbox that has been checked. Simply un-check the checkbox and hit next, then follow any further prompts. That should remove internet explorer.
Before you do this though, I would download an alternate browser - firefox rocks!

Woah. My first thought was "of couse, no way!", but I found a program out there called nLite that will let you uninstall Internet Explorer.
From the website:
"Have you ever wanted to remove Windows components like Media Player, ____Internet Explorer_____, Outlook Express, MSN Explorer, Messenger...
How about not even to install them with Windows ?
nLite is a tool for permanent Windows components removal and pre-installation Windows setup. After removal there is an option to make bootable image ready for burning on cd or testing in virtual machines. With nLite you will be able to have Windows installation which on install doesn't include, or even contain on cd, unwanted components.
" (emp. added)
Cool!

I would advise you against doing that.. if you do that your system in most certanity will crash, seems Microsoft has programmed windows to do so .Moreover certain websites and certain applications like MSN require IE to run..
But cheer up there is a way out. you can install Firefox without uninstalling IE.
When you do that Firefox will automatically become your Default Browser. Moreover you can
Export your favourites, bookmarks etc from your IE to Firefox.( Done automatically during installation).I think that would solve your problem

You can't really uninstall internet explorer. It works too closely with windows, too much relies on it... windows explorer, active desktop, etc.
You can still use another Web Browser for your actual surfing though. A lot of people use Firefox these days: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

STOP!!! You can't. It is integrated into your operating system. IE will eventually fail in most computers or work so slow that it will be impractical to use. Just do yourself a favor and download the browser below, if for no other reason than having it as a back up. But, again, you really can't delete your IE and expect your computer to work very well.

It's tough. You need to go to cnet.com and find the special program that completely removes it. And even then some types of windows will never allow you to completely remove it.
I say you do the most you can and use the program and then run firefox and never open IE ever again.
