NO!! The Left Behind rapture is a dangerous modern-day myth believed by millions of Christians. They think they will be swept away on a magic carpet before the tribulations. In fact, during the tribulation is when they will be tested by fire and help others come to Christ. If all the "real" Christians are all gone, who is going to minister to the rest of the world?
When the tribulations come and the Christians are still here,it will cause millions of them to lose their faith and think that Christianity is a fraud. I believe that is the cause of the "great falling away" mentioned in 2 Thess 2:3.
Just ponder this: in Mark 13:20 Jesus said that the tribulations will be shortened for the sake of the elect or even they might be destroyed. If the elect are all gone, why does the time need to be shortened for them?
In the Left Behind books everyone was left wondering "what happened?". In Matthew 24 Jesus made it clear that his return would be unmistakeable. Like lightning.

Actually, more like the movie "A Thief in the Night".
This is one of those times when I disagree with mainworry. The word "rapture" is an alliteration of the latin "rapturus" or to be 'caught up or violently removed'. Paul in his letter to the Thessalonians introduced the passage with the phrase at 1Thes4:13;
"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep,..."
The first "common" translation of the entire Bible was the Latin Vulgate, and Latin was used universally at that time as an intellectual language because it was already 'dead' and therefore the meanings of the words could not change. This is how Biblical scholars acquired the word 'rapture', because it denotes more impact than the koinonian Greek word "harpazo" had come to mean. Most of the other translations of this word in the scripture are translated "taken by force" or "remove violently". The other place where the Greek is important regarding m'worry's view are the words "air" and "clouds". He cites the Hebrew's passage "cloud of witnesses" (Greek word "nephos" - singular cloud) and compares it to the 1Thes. passage "in the clouds" (Greek words "en nephele" or "in clouds") andtries to ascribe the same meaning to them. The Greek word for "air" ("aer") is translated throughout the Bible ONLY as "BREATHABLE air", or atmosphere.
Jesus Himself referred to two separate returns: one to receive us to Himself (John 14:3; Matt 24:21-27) and one to Judge the nations (Matt 24:30,25:31). The first is commonly referred to as the rapture, the second as the Day of the Lord.
edit- and for the Amazing Zorba - the 144000 are virgin Jewish men sealed by the Holy Spirit (AFTER the Church is gone and the Holy Spirit is poured out on Israel) who cannot be hurt by the devil OR the plagues, whose purpose is to spread the Gospel throughout the world. They are here to the END! God is not "vacating the earth to destroy the wicked", He is removing the Church because He promised them that they would NOT endure the tribulation which was to come over the entire earth (Rev 3:10)
edit - for Sandy - The Lord has told us about the mark of the beast so we can tell those who will make their decision for Christ AFTER the rapture. These are the ones who are martyred in the Great Tribulation (or the last 3.5 years of the 70th week of years spoken of by Daniel).
edit - for at window - The "elect" has always been and will always be the nation Israel. The Church is 'grafted into' the salvation originally designed for them which they missed by not accepting Jesus as Messiah.

Most likely not, but it was just a family-safe way to show what "could" happen. The Bible's version of the rapture has been translated probably more than 6 times. And in all of that translating, the "real" prophecy might have been misread. So, what we think is going to happen and what will happen may be very different.

Their is no such word as rapture in the bible.
Kirk Camaeron?
wow I could do kirk cameron, just look at my Q+A.
The rapture is neither the truth nor necessary.
God repeatedly showed he has no need to vacate the earth to destroy the wicked. THis scripture is for the 144000:1THES.4:
17 Afterward we the living who are surviving will, together with them, be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we shall always be with [the] Lord. 18 Consequently keep comforting one another with these words.

It has nothing to do with Armaggedon.

No. What some call the 'rapture' will occur in our way of thinking when we get rid of religion's hold over humanity.

No I dont believe it will happen that way. I think scripture shows a rapture or "catching up" after the mark of the beast, not before.

Nope it's a fallacy taught.
RAPTURE
Rev.10:6 And sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever, Who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
TIME NO LONGER
Rev.10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He hath declared to His servants the prophets.
SEVENTH ANGEL WHEN HE BEGINS TO SOUND
I Cor.15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
FLESH AND BLOOD CANNOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM
I Cor.15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
ALL BE CHANGED, NOT JUST THE CHURCH
I Cor.15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
AT THE LAST TRUMP, SEVENTH
I Thes.4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
THE TRUMP OF GOD, SEVENTH
I Thes.4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
THE CLOUDS
The word “the” is not in the Greek manuscripts. Clouds is used by Paul for a throng.
Heb.12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
THE AIR
The word “air” Greek (aer) means “to breathe, respire”, NOT SKY. In other words the breath of life or spirit. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
II Thes.2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him,
OUR GATHERING TOGETHER UNTO HIM
II Thes.2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
NOR BY LETTER AS FROM US, FIRST THESSALONIANS
II Thes.2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU BY ANY MEANS
The sequence of events is Satan first, then the Lord’s day.
Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
TWO CANDLESTICKS
Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
CANDLESTICKS ARE CHURCHES
Yet there are men that teach the church is raptured. Men that teach that flesh and blood is taken and others left behind. It’s nonsense when you study His Word.
