For most people, higher numbers of megapixels are not needed. The only advantage is in having enough pixels to print large sized pictures clearly, or to crop out and enlarge portions of the original picture.

Roughly:

3 to 4mp makes good 5x7 prints.

5 to 6mp makes good 8x10's

7 to 8mp makes good 11x14's

So while it is always theoretically better to have more pixels, you can't tell the difference until you try to print or project the picture bigger.

One disadvantage of having more megapixels is that each picture takes more memory card space in the camera, and more hard drive space in your computer to store.

nicely. a action picture slr digicam needs a action picture, like each and every cameras have been formerly digital got here alongside. And a digital slr digicam does not. they are like digital cameras in that way, different than lots extra complicated to artwork, have many extra distinctive purposes and of coarse the traditional is a lot extra clever. i could easily propose the digital one, considering the fact which you're a beginner. with the aid of fact with digital you could truly delete the photograph in case you do no longer like it, and it additionally makes it lots easier to edit them considering the fact which you in user-friendly terms load it onto your pc and then flow from there. yet with a action picture you could result dropping a great sort of it considering the fact which you in user-friendly terms isn't experienced in getting the excellent digicam angles, shot sizes etc. and it is going to likely be confusing to get the photograph which you truly choose interior the 1st few photos. Or that's what i've got got here upon a minimum of.

No, 7.2 mp is not worth the extra money. You won't be able to tell the difference at regular sizes like 4R anyway.

A 7.2 mp is going to have 1,200,000 more pixels or color dots. A 6 mp will make a good 8x10. How big a print are you considering?

if your just taking pic, and printing them off, a 3.2 meg pic cam if just as good as a regular 35 mm. so i would have to say it's just a selling point, the average guy will never know the difference!
