Why do you feel "desperate"? I'm not quite sure what you mean but let me take a guess. Everything in your life seems to be going downhill. You feel like you've fallen into a hole that you can't get out of. Everything you try doesn't work so you're starting to think you're worthless or that you're completely lost. You might blame yourself for being where you are. You could feel helpless at times and be desperate for someone or something to help save you from totally bottoming out. Maybe you've tried to get help but nobody can help you. Nothing seems to work. Is that what you feel like? If so read on, but if not, I'm sorry I can't help you.

You're not alone. I've felt that way a few times within the last year. Sometimes things can get pretty bad. Sometimes everything seems to be falling apart and it's like you've fallen into a huge hole that you can't get out of. You just have to wait it out. Never give up hope. If you're at an ultimate low, there's nowhere to go but back up. Things will get better simply because they have to. Maybe you should consider turning to religion.

But if there's no way to convince you to give religion a try, then devote your life to a cause. Give yourself a purpose; something to live for. Find something so meaningful to you that you spend every second of every day striving to achieve it. Lot's of people will tell you to count your blessings. I can guarantee you, if you're at your ultimate low, you can make your blessings seem like curses in disguise. lol. If you think about it long enough, you can reduce anything good to nothing. It's just like doubting your answer for a test question that you have no clue how to do. So listing all the good things in your life might not work for you. But if you find something to work towards, and take steps to get it, you'll start seeing progress. I promise you that if you try it, you'll see success. At least that will make you feel better about yourself.

I hope that helps. If you need to talk to someone, just email me. I'll listen. Maybe I could help you feel less desperate. :-)

There are a lot of possibilities, and it would help to know more about you.

Maybe you're comparing yourself or your life with others. As long as you compare yourself to others there will be someone who has more, does more, etc. then you. And someone who has less, does less. We are on at a different stage in life, so there's no sense in comparing us. Accept what is and you'll find more comfort, less anxiety.

The same is true when you're looking for more in life- a better job, more friends, more money, etc. As long as you know there's more to have out there, you also know there's more to loose. This will cause anxiety and dissatisfaction.

Accept who you are, and what life has offered you. Seek out the beauty that is in the world around you- the stars at night, birds in the trees. Find ways to do things for others. Get out and do things.

If you don't start feeling better soon, or think that you could act on those feelings then seek treatment. Counseling is always a good idea. Help you sort out what is bothering you. Medication may be useful if the depressive symptoms become chronic.

When I was in college, months would pass and I would feel the way you describe in your Question. I don't know how I got through it. I know that I am better now (no, I don't take antidepressants)--coffee helps ;) Sometimes things just s-ck. Let yourself feel it. Turn to people you love, friends, parents, cousins. Listen to a psychologist or psychiatrist if you have the means to seek one out. Some famous woman once said, the best cure for depression is a hot bath and good deeds. Random acts of kindness get you out of yourself. Take care, this question is not a light one. You are loved.

I'm sure everybody gets that feeling at least once in their life. Some people have the will and ability to control it and sometimes others don't. Don't be one of those people who can't control that feeling. It is probably the most idiotic thing in the world so just talk to your parent s about it or a school counselor.

I once felt desperate too. After months or years of it, I decided to take some advice I got from someone I trusted. It seem too simplistic to work, but guess what - it did work.
He told me: Runaway negative self-talk will cause it every time.
Practice very hard to change your thoughts to something pleasant and positive, even if it means fantasizing about a vacation trip you had or you wish you had. At first it will be difficult, but do it anyway. If it works for you pass it on.

God Bless.

hey, everyone goes through that stage sometime or other, just try to think about the good things in life and don't dwell on the things that go wrong, if your having a down day, just ring up some of your good friends, and go out and do something fun for the day, it makes you feel heaps better.

I felt like that a few years ago. But then I almost died.

I couldnt go like that. I realized I wanted to do so much more.

There is a light within us all... you dont have to label it. It never goes out. You can call it a soul,, spirit.. what ever.. it is there.

And it is in you. If you try to find it (within you) chances are, you will.

To every problem there is a solution.

When you are having those kind of thoughts, you are definitely depressed and most likely need to get on an anti-depressant for awhile. Check with your regular doctor or go to a counselor and talk about it and the counselor may be able to prescribe an anti-depressant for you or refer you to someone that can.
