God is on your side. He will NEVER forsake you!

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Emotions are a good thing but when you cant control them like in a depression, emotions can not be so good. Emotions have a way of distorting the way we see things.

This is something I know because I have a problem with anger, and that distorts how I see the world. Depression is the same way.

Just remember that God is on your side. I dont know your situation but God wait patiently till we are at a point that we can hear him speak to us. He does not stop with this, no matter what it seems.

Even King David, who many scholars believe was a very spiritual man, had times that he thought God was very far from him. In the Psalms he writes time and time again, asking God where he went.

But in other Psalms he writes the opposite. Remember the 23 Psalms. Even if I walk through the 'valley of the Shadow of Death,' God comforts us. Not a good place to be but it is not too bad for God!!!

In fact the first five books of the Bible is about where God was when the Jewish people thought He had abandoned them. He was always there for them talking to those who would listen!!!

If you dont think that God is near he has not moved, believe me!!!

:)

I have come to realize God is always by your side. The bible said he will never leave you nor forsake you. He said if you just call on his name he will be there. Also it would be good to have others pray for you, church family, family or friends. The bible says when two or more come together believing so shall it be. Have faith, during the times you feel depressed it is then the devil will make you feel you are alone. These are the times you should constantly read your bible, especially the psalms and you will find comfort. Put your trust and faith in God irregardless of what you are going through and I promise you he will see you through. He did it for me and my family and I know he will do it for you. I will pray for you and keep the faith.

A study of the life of David and the Psalms would be good. David must have been depressed a lot. He writes about all of his enemies coming after him and that he has nowhere to hide. Then he will say "but you Lord are my fortress, my strength, my refuge." He often noticed small, little blessings in the dark days of his life, especially when he was in hiding as Saul was trying to kill him. At those times, he would write that he thanked God for his tenderest mercies. I think a lot of God's prophets were depressed and tortured souls. Welcome to the club. Jeremiah often felt all alone. You are not. Maybe at those times when you feel alone God is carrying through it.

Depression is a reaction to something. You can choose to be depressed.

A man went to heaven and met God. He asked God "Lord, why were you not with me?" God pointed to a beach where two sets of footprints were in the sand. "The sand is your life, as you can see, I was there beside you." The man looked at the footprints, but then he saw a place where there was only one set. "Ah ha!" he said "and what of that?" God smiled, "That's where I carried you."

There was a flood, and as the water was a trickle in the street a religious man sat in his house. A truck came by, an aid worker got out and knocked on the door. The man answered. The worker said "Sir, we're here evacuating people because flooding is expected." The man smiled. "Go on, save others, God will save me." The truck left. As the water was like a river in the street the man sat on his porch. A boat came by and the woman piloting it said "Come on, I'll save you." The man waved her away. "God will save me," he said. She left. The water rose to nearly his roof, and the man sat on the roof. A helicopter came and a man yelled down "hey, we're dropping a ladder to save you." But the man shook his head. "Go on," he said " God will save me." The helicopter left. The water rose above the roof. The man drowned.

In heaven the man demanded to see God, and got a meeting. When seated before God he said, "I thought you would save me, and you didn't!" God looked at him and said, "I sent a truck, a boat and a helicopter!"

Everything happens for a reason, Ive been through some times of dispair only to walk out of them in a better position than I was in before. God doesnt close one door without opening another. Look up "Footprints" its a poem that is very inspiring.

I understand exactly how you feel. What I have found out is that God is, in fact, on my side even then. It just doesn't feel like it. But feelings aren't all that matter. I may not feel like it's necessary to go to work today, but my boss has a different opinion. It doesn't really matter how I feel.

I would encourage you that God feels far away in those moments because our focus is on ourselves and God wants us to focus on Him.

You may be bummed because things are not going your way. Your focus is on you. I challenge you to press into God. Despite how far he feels, do the things that you think He wants you to do regardless of how they relate to your current situation. I am sure that you will feel closer to God and as a result, the situation that you are in will resolve it self.

It works for me.

It is very hard to come to terms with the fact that God seems distant in our most trying times. But I ask you, how close are you to God when things are going great for you. If you do not spend a lot of quality time with Him when things are right you will not recognize that He is there when things are tough.

GOD is on your side and He wants good things for you. But, we do need to be Spiritually prepared to receive them, which is easier said than done.

The Bible says we will not be given more than we are able to bear.

Your experiences today can be used by GOD to guide others to Him.
