We definitely need Him to mercifully reach back to us through a Savior. Good works are just that...good. Though I understand there are other religions out there. The Holy Bible is clear that Jesus is the way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through Him.
I don't want to type more and be 'all-theological', but I felt compelled to answer your question by using material out of (to my knowledge) the best-selling book of all time -- the Bible. The Bible says that,"All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" The AWESOME NEWS is that in another place it says.. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". Yes, we needed Him to send Jesus as a Savior, so that we could recieve forgiveness for the wrong that we do. Even good people do wrong!

You NEED the Savior.
The point of the Savior is you can never attain God's perfection. The Law (of Moses) was to show us that we could NEVER be good enough...no matter how good we are.
Jesus came to reconcile YOU to the Father. To put you back into right relationship with the Father. Adam broke that relationship through sin, Jesus reconciled the relationship by taking the sin away.

I think because we're not perfect and God is, we needed a sacrifice, a savior, to reconcile us to him. We have that now through Jesus, though, and I do believe that good works are also necessary - you need to at least try to be as perfect as possible. And then if you do your good works out of love, well, God is love, so maybe that's all you need to find him.

No amount of good works will save us. We all die, because we are all born into sin. God could have just started over with a new race of people who never sinned because they had no free will... but, He allowed us to keep free will and provided a Savior anyway.

All works reach God, but truly good works are pleasing to God. Not all people can know on earth Who God truly Is. Thus those who strive to do true good become more intimate with God for all eternity and learn Who God truly Is..

The savior has already been created and lived on earth. It is Jesus Christ and the only way to reconcile is to accept Him into your heart and let him save and transform your life. He will write your name in the book of life.

AHHH NOOOO!!!! Good works arn't enough! It even says in the bible, No one can get to the Father (Heaven/God) except through me. You have to believe that Jesus is your saviour and that he burdened your sin on the Cross. If you want more refrence read Gosples. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. Your lucky i got on here, I may have just saved you from an eternity in Hell!

Wrap your mind around this: In Judaism, GOD is the redeemer. A messiah is just a hero who rescues people and leads them on God's path. In fact the only person who CAN redeem us from our sins in this religion is God. And also, according to this religion, your works will directly effect your placement in the world to come, as well as your intentions, or the things you didn't do/refrained from doing.

You are right, we need the grace of a Savior. Good works are important, but we cannot return to God without Christ. We just aren't good enough.
