When we read the Bible, we need to understand it within its cultural and historical context, and it is true that the Biblical period was one in which slavery was practiced. We no longer believe that such treatment is appropriate. Regarding same sex relationships, unfortunately traditional ways of reading scripture have been hurtful causing much persecution. Errors in translation and reading into verses ideas that are not in the original wording has caused considerable harm and persecution of those who have different types of sexual orientation. The Bible nowhere mentions lesbianism, and passages interpreted as referring to homosexuality might be better translated "child sexual abuse." The word that is translated "abomination" in the Old Testament, toevah, refers to ritual impurity, a condition that was no different than any type of impurity that one might come in contact with in the course of ordinary life, such as touching blood, a person with an illness, or a corpse. The remedy for conditions of toevah was a ritual cleansing bath. When we look closely at the original Scriptures there is far less specific condemnation for same-sex relationship than we are led to believe by those who claim that it is a sin.

You assume too a lot. there are a number of Christians available worried about holding the right definition of marriage. in simple terms because there occurs to be a great deal of them doesn't propose different moral themes are being omitted. some Christians worried about holding marriage ought to also be operating to promote different moral motives. and then, definite, there are a number of them who care only for holding marriage. and then there are Christians who're ignoring Marriage safe practices in pick of yet another moral reason. do not presume to study the minds of human beings you do not comprehend. no human being Christian can do each thing. some are referred to as to champion one moral reason, at the same time as others are referred to as to promote others. Christians, because of their faith, have an ethical perception into the marriage problem that isn't rather in simple terms understood through secular humanists. it truly is why Christians, regularly, are merchandising Marriage safe practices.

Who cares what these lame christians think or say. It is so pathethic that even after all the scientific advancements in the past century, mankind is still holding on to this pitiful idea that god exists. stupid stupid stupid.
The only reason any of these religions out of the middle east arose was because man had this self destructive need to explain things he didn't understand; for example, how we got here, the meaning of life, etc.

i agree as well.
i do believe that gays should be allowed to marry one another. i am a straight male who was raised by a gay man and am a better person for it.
my real father was very abusive and beat me often so these so called Christians believe that he was a better parent because he was straight. well i wonder if they had been in my shoes would they still be thinking the same way? i think not. just because of a persons sexual orientation they should not be banned from enjoying the same things that every other person does.

Exactly, all Christians pick and choose which parts of the Bible to live by. None of them can call themselves "real" Christians.

1st of all I don't think homosexuality can compare to slavery. In 70AD, they had slaves...that is the time frame of when the Bible was inspired. Lets get real here...

Slavery was cruel and necessary at this time. People were paid for their worth just as today, but we no longer call it slavery, however we do call it a job.

I do think if one is going to abide by the laws of a religion they should abide by them all, not just the ones that are convenient.
