That sucks! But no one can really answer your question, except maybe your parents, or grand parents had the same thing, genetics-yeah it can suck big time.

Exposure therapy. It's a good way to overcome panic and anxiety long term. I have problems with panic attacks, but not so much lately. I too am 28. Xanax has helped, but I take it as needed like if I know I'm going to be involved in something that may spark a panic attack.
I used to get terrible panic attacks in Walmart and other stores like it where there are lots of people.

You could also maybe try asking your doctor about something herbal to take daily. Kava is an excellent herb that has been proven to help with anxiety and/or depression. As for prescription, Xanax is great, but it can become habit forming very easily, so I avoid taking it regularly. The SSRI Antidepressants are also used. There are a lot of newer ones these days. I used to be able to keep up. A friend of mine is on Lexapro and she's doing quite well.

Whether it's your family doctor or a therapist, I'd have someone help monitor your situation.

I hope this can be of some help to you. Good luck.

you wont to talk fair .. well im a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 6 .. kids just got grown up.. and last year i found out i have breast cancer..you think that is fair....why me????According to one theory of panic disorder, the body's normal "alarm system," the set of mental and physical mechanisms that allows a person to respond to a threat, tends to be triggered unnecessarily, when there is no danger. Scientists don't know exactly why this happens, or why some people are more susceptible to the problem than others. Panic disorder has been found to run in families, and this may mean that inheritance (genes) plays a strong role in determining who will get it. However, many people who have no family history of the disorder develop it. Often, the first attacks are triggered by physical illnesses, a major life stress, or perhaps medications that increase activity in the part of the brain involved in fear reactions.
i hope you do well.. take care and hang in there ..maby your bipolar triggered the panic attacks...

Life isn't fair. No one knows that better then I do. We have to accept the challenges that life gives us. It is part of our journey, a learning and growing experience. Once I accepted that, things finally started to fall into place for me. About time, too- I'm more then twice your age, and have nothing(home, family, career) left to lose.

Appreciate the children, the boyfriend, and apt. It is so important to appreciate what you have- I cannot over- emphasize!

Let me give you a quote that I found useful. I wish someone had shown it to me 15 or 20 years ago.

"As long as we are able to imagine something better than what we have or who we are, it follows naturally that there could also be something worse. We are constantly pursued by misgivings that something bad will happen. In other words, as long as we live by distinguishing between the better way and the worse way, we can never find absolute peace such that whatever happens is all right." ---Kosho Uchiyama

I know how you feel i been suffering with panic attacks for almost 20 years. I think it ain,t fair you can,t work because of these attacks i had a job i loved and because of these attacks ihad to quit! the only thing that helped me is xanax still on it. I had my times when i felt normal for like 3 years now its back again! I don,t know. theres a book on panic atacks which really helps it tell you what exactly causes them and how to deal with them. Look on internet you can find it there i,m sure. goodluck

Same reason why everybody has to deal with something sometimes.
My life has been insane up to this point. And there are a lot of people who have it worse than me, and I find that really hard to believe sometimes. But, honestly you have to think that without all of the bad you would lose alot of your experience and knowledge of different things.
I have lived with severe depression for almost 10 years, and I feel bad for myself sometimes. But I also try to learn from it. I know you can do the same.
If you're not being treated by a doctor than maybe you should and that would help as well.

So you've got some problems that can be dealt with. You also have a nice apartment with nice things, 3 beautiful children, a boyfriend that loves you very much and you are only 28.

Welcome to the club. I feel for you but instead of boo hooing your life find out how you can better yourself. There are meds, counseling, groups and things like that that can help you.

Just some info this did not just happen. Something set off your Panic attacks, however your bipolar disorder has been lingering in that head of yours for sometime.

Go see a Psychiatrists and then a therapist thats specializes in emotional disorders.

Good Luck

I don't have any experience with bipolar, but I am familiar with anxiety and depression. Are you on medication at all? That can help BIG TIME with moods, anxiety attacks, etc.
A family member of mine has panic attacks, and was prescribed Xanax to take when these attacks occur, as well as anti-depressants. (I've never had one, so I don't know what they feel like)

It is a life lesson you must learn for a reason so do the best you can with it.

Perhaps you should look at one very important factor when it comes to bipolar diagnosis's, they don't look for allergies!

Severe allergic reactions can give these symptoms. Did you move into a new house? Could there be mold? (Even new houses can have mold) Did you get a pet? How about new meds? Check into this!
