What color should I dye my hair? I have lightish tan skin, dark brown hair with a reddish tint to it, and dark brown eyes. I want to go lighter but my hair stylist says that I can't do any blond in it because the hair color (from a box) that I’ve been using would make my hair fry if I went that light. Any ideas?

This is my first time getting my hair colored permanent. I don't want to go blond, just lighter. But I do want some light colored highlights. My stylist says I should do a lighter brown with caramel highlights. But I want some other suggestions.

I don't want any wild colors like blue or pink, I just want to go lighter.

depends on the color of your skin really. Given by natural hair color at birth, making it a "newer" more modern look can always be the right way to go. But if your looking for more of an outstanding color, a brownish-red tone would do just fine. You don't want to do that "high lighter red" anymore, your not a teenager!

put some peroxide (the medicine kind) and water in a bottle and spray it on your hair. Spend some time in the sun and your hair will lighten up. Just make sure you wash your hair every evening after you apply the mixture. And stop using it once you get the desired color. If you continue to use it, or don't wash it out you will be blond in about a month.

well beauty love, look at ur skintone first. If you are light like white (no offense) then you should consider blonde or red. if you have a darker skintone you should go for black or brown don't do anythin too crazy like blue or pink. Thats not normal. Don't be afraid to go in between. You could have that brownish blondish color. Blond screams for attention. Brunette and black hair is full of mystery and red is just pure sophisticatin. Holla at me at Azizgurl@yahoo.com

Going from dark brown to blonde is very very hard on your hair. I know, I've done it. Settle for a heavy application of blonde and reddish highlights. That is what I have and people tell me it looks fab

If you havn't done this already....ask your stylist to do a strand test on your hair now...that way you can see what color the highlights will lift to and in what condition they will be....i'm sure you can do it 'cause i do highlights on people who have dyed their hair with box colored a million times.....it will take longer than usual to break through those box colors but you can definitely do it...if you lived in florida i'd do it for you!!

If your hairstylist knew what she was doing she could safely get you to a lighter shade. Boxed haircolor doesn't mean you are in haircolor purgatory until it grows out.! 1st, change stylists, then discuss your options with the new one! Geez, I am in the same profession, and i'm embarrassed with how little other stylists know about thier job!!!!!!

Don't do anything to your hair color; it sounds pretty the way it is. If you must change the color, take the advice of your stylist. Please don't go blond; for some unknown reason it seems as if the whole planet wants to be blond -- which is disconcerting.

lighter for the summer is always nice, but, you wont get a lighter tone from a box.... Unless your talking about highlighting kits, which yes, they do fry your hair, cuz thats a bleach type of process...
You'd be safer to have your stylist do it.

For a gorgeous, exotic look consider dying your hair a darker shade of red... Do an internet search on Rose Dewitt and see what I mean. Another good example is Claire Danes in Romeo & Juliet.

Dark hair is sexy and very sultry looking... I have always gotten alot of attention through my life and I have very dark long hair..... you can always go darker and add highlights.... It really brings out your eyes ... blond or lighter hair on most people , makes them look washed out....look around... most people that lighten their hair Do Not look good.....Be original and do your own thing.....
