well i recently did a research project on Fad Diets, which are diets such as the atkins diet, south beach diet, cabbage soup diet, 7 day diet, etc. basically diets that have strict menus and daily meals planned out and have fast weight loss and no exercise needed. those types of diets are all really bad for you--they harm your health BIG TIME. the only good way to have healthy weight loss is to "eat smart, think well, move more" so basically, eat more plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grain, that type of stuff. and exercise 30-60 minutes per day for around 4 days of the week. that actually improves your health and you have steady weight loss, while when going on a fad diet, the weight comes back almost immediately after you finish the diet and it has major health risks and side effects! hope this helps! (:

--just a note* starving yourself or taking diet pills is even worse; they can sometimes cause DEATH and always cause your body to break down and lose vitamins, minerals, etc that you NEED everyday.

The obvious answers are cut back on your food and increase your exercise, but weight and weight loss is a complex issue. First, figure out how much you want to weigh -- and be realistic. If you're 5'6" you don't want to weigh 105 lbs! Then spread it out so you lose no more than 1 or 2 pounds per week. I know, you'll hear people bragging about losing 30 pounds in a month -- but it doesn't stay off. The body has a natural defense mechanism against starvation and if you make a drastic cut in the number of calories it takes in, it responds by slowing your metabolism so you conserve energy and don't keel over dead in the immediate future. Unfortunately, after you go off your diet, the body doesn't realize that's what's happening and just maintains the slower metabolism while turning the extra calories into fat, which it thinks it will probably need next time there is a famine.
You can't reason with your body, this is just a built in mechanism we all have.
That's why a slow loss is the only effective way to keep the weight off.
There are tricks you can use: instead of gobbling up goodies while you read or watch TV, limit yourself to 10 potato chips, or 10 raisins. Then eat them one at a time, actually tasting each bite, and chewing them thoroughly. You'd be amazed how long it can take you to get through that small amount of food that you once used to chuck in your mouth all at one go.
You can also rely on the dieter's friend -- celery. It's great because it is mostly water and fiber. Fills you but doesn't fatten you. Fruits and veggies are generally good, but eat them raw for the most benefit.
Add an exercise program to this regime -- it can be as simple as a brisk half hour walk every day during your lunch hour -- and you'll be well on the way to meeting your goal.
Good luck,girl!

Eat sensibly and exercise. Cut down on sugar and fried food. If junk food is your bane, don't bring it into the house. Try keeping apples and other fruits on hand, and yogurt. And if you get hungry between meals, go ahead and grab a piece of fruit for a snack, rather than wait until mealtime to get voraciously hungry: You'll eat less that way.

Good luck!

Don't make it your goal to lose weight. Instead, make it your goal to live healthy. It's much more positive that way. Eat good-for-you foods, and drink water. Take your vitamins and get some exercise. Stay active.

diet and excercise, that is how you do it, make sure you only eat when you are hungry and try not to eat anything after 8:00pm unless you are going to excercise before bed. Also, if you drink pop stop, if you stop drinking pop for 1 year you could lose 20 lbs. if you drink a lot of pop

eat like a king every morning- full meal
eat like a prince every afternoon- not too much
eat like a popper every evening- eat less of the two meals, because in the evening you have nothing to do.. u just sleep and the nutrients you have eaten stock in your belly that is why we grow as fat as we cannot know. by the way dont eat too much carbohydrates and sugarry foods.
