Traditionally, you would refrigerate white's and sparklings but keep red's at room temperature. However, chilling a red wine slightly is not a bad thing for the wine and some people do that. Once you have opened it, it's definitely a good idea to chill them and when you have another glass, give it some time to open up so it doesn't taste and smell bland. Swirling the wine in your glass will help the wine open up as well.

White wine should be chilled before serving but you should not keep any wine in the fridge for long periods. Wine should be kept in a dark or darkish cool place, out of the sun and at 90 degree angle (this keeps the cork moist and prevents air from getting into the wine, which will ruin it. make it vinegary and spoil it.
Red wine should be served at room temp.
White wine should be chilled or cold depending on the type of wine.
Rose wine is also best served chilled. Sparkling wine should be served cold.
You can find some of this info at may winery websites as well.
Cheers!

You can drink it, but it won't taste very good.. The wine will most likely be oxidized. Oxidized wines smell flat, sharp and of brown apples. Oxidized white wines tend to be golden in colour where as oxidized reds show browning, which has been spoiled due to prolonged exposure to oxygen. Whether it's been re-capped or corked, there is oxygen trapped in the bottle which needs to be taken away before storing the wine again..

yes usually white wine and sparkling wine is served chilled.
Red wine should be served at room temperature to bring out the flavours. But it really is personal preference. I like my red wine from the fridge.
