How good are Jeep Wranglers compared to Hondas anyway?

The Jeep is much more badass, but less reliable and considerably worse gas mileage.
So the question is - Is the style worth the cost to you?

You are comparing to vehicles that represent the far end of the spectrum when it comes to autos and how you drive. Take a used Wrangler for a test drive. Then start thinking. As for rollover as mentioned in another post, I have spent the last 15 years teaching soldiers how to drive a HUMVEE (Army version of HUMMER). The Wrangler is a short wheel base (front wheels and rear wheels close together) high center of gravity (the weight of the vehicle in height off the ground) type of vehicle, thus it will not corner like a car. You have to slow down going into curves. It will brake differently, and you must be sure to steer gentle, no great big steering corrections. Follow some common sense and you will not have problems. My suggestion if you do decide on the Wrangler is to attend an accredited driving school which offers a Vehicle specific driving course. It will be worth the money. And, yes, you can flip a HUMMER, you can get a HUMMER stuck in the mud, you can even do a bootlegger 180 in a HUMMER, I've got over 100,000 documented miles in military Humvee, I've seen or done all with them.

What are you going to use the vehicle for? For daily commuting, the Honda is a better choice. If you are an outdoor type person, and like to go camping and off road driving, the Jeep will work.

What is the weather like in your area? The Jeep needs a hardtop in winter, or you will never feel warn in it! Four wheel drive is nice, but do road conditions where you drive justify it?

The Jeep will use more fuel than the Civic. Hondas, if properly maintained, will last for 250,000 miles easily. The Jeep usually will not.

YES!!! I am trading in my 2001 Honda for a Jeep Wrangler tomorrow! It's funny you ask because I've been planning on doing this for about a year.
Honda's are safer, more comfortable, better on long trips, and retain their value better.
BUT Jeeps are just so damn cool that they are better, and a whole lot more fun.

Jeeps are good, not to mention fun to ride and drive, but if you are worried about insurance, I'd stick with the Honda Civic. Jeeps are usually more expensive on insurance because they flip easily and are most are considered off road vehicles.

Get rid of that stupid honda and get the Wrangler. You can't go offroading in a honda.
