1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Please encourage your friend to get some serious counseling. Self-mutilation is a sign of much deeper problems.

One that you might be able to reason with your friend is
Acts 15: 29 and it says : to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things you will prosper. Good health to YOU!
So you may be able to reason that God views the body as being sacred and that blood is something sacred not to be defiled. You should really get your friend some help. You may want to talk with a family member and then decide whether or not to see if they will commit them self or if you have to get an authorities to step in. Is your friend possibly suicidal?

I hope he understands that although he is hurting himself...he's only hurting himself superficially and will never reach his emotions that way...if he wants to relieve his pain...he should not focus on his negative actions...for God accepts us even if we've sinned. Just look at King David! I hope he is able to see more than the problems that occur to him. He's not only hurting himself...but everyone who truly loves him. I bet he needs to know who does love him...God does.

I'm not sure, but I hope this helps:

Romans 12:1,2:
1 Consequently I entreat YOU by the compassions of God, brothers, to present YOUR bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with YOUR power of reason. 2 And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making YOUR mind over, that YOU may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

What the Bible says about Personal Hygiene
Deuteronomy 23:13-14
And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee. For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp.

1 Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Corinthians 3: 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

The bible would probably piss him off more. The thing your friend needs right now is a friend, someone that he can count on and just talk about things.
