EXACTLY. The reason is because they wanted their god to be above all others. Although they are all the same---mythical.
They wrote the lines in the Bible where it says that he can't have a name or whatever, for pride--- to rise above other religions.
What's worse than non-tolerance for other religions? I don't know anything that is.

He has many names
Ex. 3:14 God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I Am." This is what you are to say to the Israelites: "I Am has sent me to YOU."
Is. 9:6 To us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jer. 23:6 This is the name by which He will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.
Matt. 1:21 You are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.
Matt. 28:19 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

True Christians actually *DO* use the Almighty's personal name. In fact, the Scriptures and Jesus himself encourage us to use God's personal name.
The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) seems to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.
The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".
(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth
(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

Actually, they're either too lazy to learn/use the name of their god (Yahweh), or they didn't want to acknowledge the association with Jews way back when, even though the Bible says that they came from Jews and Jesus was a Jew, and that just stuck as a tradition.

Creator of Heaven and Earth has His name as God. That's what He says to Moses in Exodus 3 :14 "I AM WHO I AM". Later on civilizations copied that name God and put it to other gods like -----god or **** god like that. So Christan's God name is God.

He doe s have a name.
The Jews became afraid to use it.
The Christians (like the Jews) became superstitious and,(like the scribes of Jesus day), substituted the name with the title"THE LORD".
You already know the name.
