my dad's birthday is coming up next week and i'm planning to take the family out for dinner. my dad absolutely loves steaks but i was never been a fan of it - i'm a seafood lover. so any suggestion? i want to make it the best dinner for him!
is texas steakhouse any good?

Ruth's Cris for a special occasion is nice experience to try....it's pricey though.
I actually prefer Outback over Ruth's Cris. The price difference just isn't worth it to me. It's more of place you go to just to say you've been there. It would be a nice treat for your dad though, he would remember.
I'd say Outback if you are taking multiple people. Really, the steaks are very good there, you just need to watch the wait. At least in MD, you know you'll be waiting at least an hour for a dinner party (and they don't really have reservations, just call ahead that's a joke...)

Texas Steakhouse sucks. Seriously. Delmonico's in Vegas is the best steakhouse in the world. Capital Grille in Atlanta 2nds it. Chain restaurants are gross, they have no idea what good food is. Here is my suggestion: go on the web and type in "city search "your city here", it will bring up a restaurant guide that will help you find a real steak house and give your dad a night to remember. If you live in the north central Texas area and can afford to spend a pretty penny or two I suggest Morton's The Steakhouse. You need to make reservations, but can do it online at www.mortons.com

I think Delmonico's is wonderful but really expenisve. Do you have the cash for this meal? If not I would go to Outback or something. Or you could go to the butcher and get some nice steaks and BBQ them yourself, with Baked potato with all the yummy stuff and salad.... no matter what you do, he will love it!

Morton's is my favorite, but it's really expensive. Once you eat a Morton's steak you won't want any other. Also, their hot chocolate cake is the best.
