i hear voices. some, that are "in" my head, i attribute to my conscience, you know, the whole "devil on one shoulder, angel on the other", but then, every now & then i'll hear other sounds/voices, they just come out of nowhere, they're all misconstrude, ahrd to interpret, so i go over them over in my head, they sound like random lines spoken in films, radio, television, & such forth. these voices usually sound like they come from elsewhere. as if not from inside my head. these sounds tend to arise when there is little or no other sounds around. tell me, is this normal, & if not, what is it?
serious answers only.

Really? If the voices start telling you to do things, and you act upon these requests, you got a problem. If not, you have a beautiful mind.

I posted this for a girl with the same problem but only before going to sleep. If you experience this often throughout your day you may need to see someone but its not a bad problem and you aren't crazy. Here is what I posted for the other question:

Don't listen to any of the idiots that are telling you you are crazy. The same thing happens to me. It has a lot to do with W.I.L.D. and M.I.L.D. sleep techniques (look them up online) which have to do with your sleep states. For most people the transition between concious and uncoucious states is black and white. For people like us there is a gray area inbetween in which we are somewhat aware of our subconcious. Do you have a lot of vivid dreams (dreams where you know you are dreaming). Some people actually train themselves to do some of the things we do naturally. It is a gift, not a curse. You just have to train yourself a little bit. When I go through a lot of stress the sounds and visuals are more prominent. I can also sense a location of the voice like behind me and towards the right or right in front of me. It has also been suggested that this is a transferring of unconciously stored information to your long term memory or some other type of processing (thats why you hear voices of people, conversations or music from the current day, not from say a week before). Its really complicated but once mastered you can have complete control of a lot of your dreams. I use my dreams to practice public speaking, work on my golf swing or just fly around and enjoy the experience. I have even done some exploring into myself and solved some pretty complex problems like when I had a fear of intimacy. Start by looking up stuff online and go from there. Good Luck

No, hearing voices is not normal . The voices are "real" to you, but othe people cannot hear them. The voices will also feel very real but sometimes chemical reactions in your brain allow your sensations to feel and hear voices just like when you dream, but in this case you are awake and conscious. Go to your health provider and do it promptly so you can learn to handle the issue. Sometimes nutritional deficiencies can cause this, or specific medications will help control the brain impulses that cause this.

I have the same thing happen to me but right before I fall to sleep at night. It is just my brain working through the all the info that has been packed in there during the day. I try hard enough and I can hear any body's voice I want. Its just like learning to control your dreams. Once you figure out how to manipulate what you dream(unconscious IMAGES) you can also figure out how to manipulate your unconscious sound.

you might be "mental" but I think every body hears voices once in a while, the main thing is wether or not you realize that the are hallucinations. Seek professional help in any case because even if you are not crazy it might be a sign of other problems, like maybe a brain tumor, or something simple like that.

Maybe your brain is over-stimulized. I have the same thing going on all the time because I have a very active imagination and memory. If they start to put disturbing thoughts in your head. Then you need to get help. Life is going at a rapid pace. We hear and see all these images and sounds around us from different sources. I think that is normal but, if you start to get different feelings, please get help.

It is common for people to hear voices inside their head, and you said it nicely, it might be attributed to your conscience, for instance. Voices that sound like they are coming from outside your head, like real, audible voices, are something a little different. It could be indicative of a few different things. It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about this, ask him/her if he/she could maybe refer you to a local mental health agency to talk to a professional. Good luck!

sounds like schizophrenia. You should see a doctor and get some meds because it can get worse. i know, i have them too, honestly. I've been in treatment for 6 years now. After the voices, I started to see things that weren't there and that really freaked me out. Get some help, they will quiet down, they won't go away and they won't stop, but they will quiet down.

Probably need more information before forming an opinion....do you have anxiety issues? depression? paranoia? mood cycles? How old are you? How long has this been going on? These are questions mental health professionals will want to know. Also, is there drug use or alcohol use? Family history of mental illness?
You probably want to answer these questions and be referred to a really good PSYCHIATRIST not a family doctor.
Good Luck!
