The Bible calls Ishmael a child when he was past 14 years old.
It tells us that Abraham was 86 years old when Ishmael was born and he was 100 years old when Isaac was born, then it says that Hagar put the child on her shoulder and left because Sarah complained about Ishmael after Isaac was weaned.
Would you believe that the child, Ishmael, was 14 years old after Isaac was weaned, or that Isaac and Ishmael were two kids the same age, or that the Bible is putting confusion in the mind of the reader for a purpose, or that the Bible is warning you that you should be careful about the information it gives as it is not from the Only True God and that there is something other than the Bible that will be the Truth that explains the confusion and that you should therefore take a hint and continue to search for the Truth?
Shouldn't an intelligent human being question such confusion?
Sounds to me that the question should be, the more you question the Bible the more you are proving yourself right to question such discrepancies and confusion, right?

No, not really, and no, not really. Questioning something outside the realm of logic is like trying to fit a square peg through the circular hole. They just don't go together. And who cares if the Bible never said the truth, then it'd just be a fiction story!

Over time people have changed the words of the Bible so really, nobody even knows if the things in it are the right thing to do or the wrong.

i think you're kinda stretching the word "proving". i believe that, at least in the Christian sense, faith transcends reason. it is a leap of faith.
