I suffered once from a middle ear infection and had a case of serious vertigo, I was walking in the street and all the buildings, cars etc. starting turning round and round like if you were really wasted. It lasted like an hour but ever since then, 5 years ago, I am scared to feel that again and it has caused me to become neurotic and scared of places with many people like airports and malls..any suggestions?

Remember that you had it once, for an hour, 5 years ago, following a middle ear infection.
This sounds like a relatively isolated case of vertigo. Are you sure its the vertigo that makes you anxious or is there something else? If its seriously interrupting your daily functioning, consider getting some help.

I have suffered from vertigo on and off for 15 years, there are pills called Antivert that a doctor can prescribe that dries up the fluid that causes the vertigo. It has absolutely nothing to do with where you are, unless of course if you get on a roller-coaster--- then you're just tempting fate.

I had an episode when I was 7 months pregnant, the docs said they couldn't give me anything because of the baby---- I ended up falling flat on my face one morning because I couldn't tell which way I was moving! Ouch!!! The baby was fine.

Good Luck

You are having anxiety about it. You need to do some self talk and let yourself know it won't happen. That those thoughts are irrational ones because there is no basis for that happening again.

I once had vertigo, it was lousy, I know what you mean. But I didn't have the reaction you did. I think it really bothered you to the point you adopted anxiety about it.
