Under normal circumstances I know I pick up the tab!

But what if I'm flying halfway across the world to see her? I pay for plane ticket and dinner too?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not cheap!...but I'm not rich either.

discuss this to your gf so she would have idea where to take you for dinner and how will the budget goes.. You suppose to enjoy your trip and being with her, not the dinner and who gonna pay.it is not a big deal..

one thing that matters is, what country does she lives,, if she has a big family and she might invite her family to have dinner with you out, that would be a problem .

before going there, give her idea on how you are planning for your trip.. she is your gf and she would understand you when it comes to being new in her country.
I understand why it really worries you because I came from a country where eating out would cost you a lot, but it is also good to try take out lunches and go to park or somewhere with her and enjoy.
When it comes to eating out, usually women don't pay.

If she invited you, then SHE should pay for dinner.
If it was YOUR idea to go, YOU should offer but traditionally, the guest is not supposed to pay for the first dinner.

After that, most people just take turns picking up the tab.
Whoever is NOT paying for the meal, leaves the tip.

We get to spend time as a kinfolk and talk approximately what has happend throughout that day and it is an danger to coach our table manners too.

There are some interesting answers, here, but I have to wonder...is this a courtship, or a Socialist Party meeting?

Be a man. Pick up the tab, Hercules.

I think you should split it (perhaps every other meal/dinner), but be extremely casual about it. Since you're obviously very serious about each other, think about it as if you're already married. When you're married, your finances are combined. You shouldn't ask her to pay precisely half. Just say that you'll get it this time and maybe she can next time.

Since she is on her home turf, it is prudent that she pays.. Only if she invited you. If you flew over to see her then.. you should go dutch... I think you should watch where you go eat though, some places are expensive. Just take turns paying for dinner.

Easy- you both take turns. She should pick up the tab on the day you arrive as a sort of "welcome!" dinner. Then for the next few days, you both take turns. On your last evening with her, you should take her out for a nice "thanks for having me over" meal. Even better would be if either you or her (or both of you) cooked a meal at her home one night; she takes care of the meal, and you pick up a nice bottle of wine.

Here..let me write you a check. NOT! Who says you have to go out every night? Take some nice long walks, go on picnics, find inexpensive things to do. Cook dinner together. You're going to see HER. Enjoy eachother!

I would say that you pay for dinner to or you both split or take turns for paying.
Just because you paid for the airplane doesn't mean that your g/f has to pay for supper.
Hope this helps
