Army Airborne Rangers are an elite unit that fall under SOCOM. They perform special ops like taking airfields and other high value objectives. Unlike regular infantry their role is more specific.

to understand what a Ranger is you really should read up on the history. They were really the United States first commandos...that is troops trained specifically to operate behind enemy lines...hang on awhile i'm sure a ranger will be by shortly to tell you more lol.

all rangers are not airborne (10th mtn inf) but they are all highly motivated individuals that are trained to operate in small to med sized units and secure specific objectives-leaving no one behind is a HUGE DEAL to them along with esprit de corps, they throw the best parties of ANY SERVICE MEMBERS (I'm not a ranger but my next door neighbor IS and its girls gone wild every week-end) To sum it up i"ve met 1 ranger in 19 years that I did not like and he PUSHED ME THROUGH PLDC -they won't let you quit ! to me THATS A RANGER-HOOAH!
