My boys (31/2 and 5 1/2 ) act the same as my dogs!! They both run around it and yell and touch it (the dogs bite it) and run. It is really hysterical!! I think it is just because it is loud and they are trying to overcome the fear (or maybe the dogs are trying to kill it). My two love to vacuum now. I gradually let them touch it and drive the one without a beater brush.
FYI I heard of a terrible story of a woman who let her oldest vacuum in the same room as the baby. The baby got his hand in the front and the beater brush peeled all the skin off!! Be careful!!

I don't know but my kids always want a ride! I have a rainbow vacuum cleaner and they think it is the coolest thing to sit on it while I drag them around trying to vacuum. It's to cute!

My kids have all done it too. The noise scares them and my kids think the vacuum can suck up anything. They think that it can even suck them up if they are standing by it. When they were little they used to clean their room and I would tell them anything left on the floor the vacuum will suck it up. Needless to say they believe it can do miraculous things.

My son loves the vacuum cleaner. We have a smaller one and when he dropped his cup of Cheerios, I used ot to clean them up. So... now he drops his snacks on purpose just so he can vacuum them right up. It's so nice that our SON actually enjoys cleaning up after himself. I just dread when he reaches that age when he'll get over it... he-he. :-)

at first, she wanted to be involved, under my feet..etc. We bought her a toy vacuum that's quite realistic. She would "vaccuum" alongside of me. Recently, she's developed a fear of it when its on and stays clear of it,completely on the other side of the house. They go through phases is what I'm trying to say.

because of the loud sound. Kids ears can be very sensitive and it remindes them of big loud scary things that can hurt them. They are also scared of the sucking
