Can you believe this...I was watching t.v couple of minutes ago a friend of mine (US citizen, like almost all of you), He's a Kitchen Manager at a company that is owning fine dining restaurants here in Boston...The point is the next, He called me so stressed up because all of the white kids that he hired can't do the job and he was saying that he needs his Mexicans back..and i don't want to sound rude or anything like that, but why every single kitchen around the US is commanded by Mexicans or Brazilians, why the US kids are so poorly skilled, os is that they don't really like this kind of jobs??... Why every chain restaurant are trying to hire just Latin people...(they don't care if they are legal or ILLEGAL)and i can tell you that is not cheap labor because they are hire them with $13 or $15 just to start and if the kid comes with experience he will get around $16 or $18..
Do you think that this is cheap labor???

Sadly, we do not teach our children to work . We teach our children to play. I worked in a place that had mostly Spanish workers. Whenever they hired a white American, they wouldn't last. Most Spanish are very hard workers.

I think the idea is that Mexicans can be more cooperative than white folks. Even our teenagers want to tell you how to run the business you've been running for 10 years or they want to goof off or say You don't pay me enough.
I can tell you, Mexicans rarely command a kitchen, but a kitchen can hardly run without folks to help keep it running by doing dishes and other "dirty" jobs that most adults don't really want to do - and white teens will barely do for their own mother.
And never underestimate the money motivator. Businesses, particularly in today's economy are doing anything they can to save money. The difference between $13 each week and $18 = $100 per 20 hr week ($200 per 40 hrs). So you are talking about $5,200 - $10,400 every year. For how many employees? 5 employees could be as much as $52,000 every year for that business owner. That's a big motivater.
Peace!

I worked as a chef in Boston for 20 years. I worked as an executive in a four star restaurant. I do not agree with your friends assessment of the skill level of employees in Boston. Boston has a very high level of skilled "white" employees.
I know all of the "fine dining" places in Boston. If your friend was working in a fine dining place he/she would never consider himself a kitchen manager. Fine dining places employ "chefs" to run the kitchen casual places hire "kitchen managers" but regardless of that I still disagree about the skill level.
If your edit was for me, The term is "sous" chef (pronounced sue). Sous is a french word meaning "under". and yes...there is often a sous chef and again..in finer places they are referred to as sous chefs and in casual places they are referred to as Assistant Kitchen Managers. On average "chefs" (those with food expertise) make 10-15 thousand dollars a year more than Kitchen Managers (who often have little knowledge of food preparation techniques) and mostly do schedules and food ordering.

I think americans have a pride issue, and we don't like to take jobs at fast food resturants because we are to good for that. I don't really know but I know that is why I never want to work at a McDonalds, or Arby's or Carls Jr. I feel my skills would be wasted. Besides I don't think managers look for Latin People, I think that is who applis for the job, so they get it. No I don't think a cook getting paid 16-18 is cheap labor, but I know that is not what you get paid at a fast food joint.

It's simply that the US has become decadent, it's own people don't want to do the worst jobs anymore and everyone thinks they are being ripped off whatever they're making. Young people are given so much by their parents that they have lost understanding of the conection between work and money, change is on the cards as the US begins to slide down the league tables.

American teens are to fat to work in a cramped kitchen . They are spoiled and lazy or alcoholics . Many will steal for drugs . Daddy will hock the house to keepthem out of jail. hey can't drive around town if they are working..so they won't work. Its the parents fault. They think little Johnny has it made...How wrong they will be when johnny lives at home until he is 35. Mommy will love that.

I think either you or he is lying. We ate just fine before all of these illegals got here. I tell you what...you are trying to perpetuate a stereotype against whites. I think maybe you are a little racist.

That is a shame. It's a shame that we don't support our troops also. It's just the way it is now a days. Can you imagine if we had that same attitude in 1941. We would all be speaking German by now.
