You and I know that when it comes to the defense of the US, party line doesn't matter. All that matters is safeguarding the American people. If a Democrat (like Murtha) or Republican wants to cut and run, it is only because they are cowards and should not be allowed to hold public office.

You will probably have trouble comprehending this answer because folks like you tend to have a problem with thinking problems through, but Islamic extremists don't form armies and go on conventional attack campaigns like actual armies do, because they're not an army, they're a bunch of kooks that get the job done by planting bombs when nobody is looking and then blow it up when there's people around Our military heroes are pretty much unbeatable by any army in the world let alone a bunch of paramilitary yahoos. So there will never be one battle where you have all the terrorists in one area and all our people on the other side, that is not how the enemy fights it's battles, but I am guessing from the question that to you, you don't have the slightest idea who or what the enemy is because most likely you've just had the same simple dribble drilled into yer head, like " they hate freedom and democracy" or "they want to take over the world", these are elements of the extremists, but the situation just is'nt that simple like a tv show, this is real life. Oh and Mr. Murtha made a statement that I completely disagree with, but I'm mature enough to admit that he is a veteran that served in a war and is a 30 year veteran of the Marines and has been commended with numerous medals of honor, and has always been extremely pro military and has done more to defend this great country than I or probably 90 percent of those who criticize him for doing his duty as a representative ever will. But you folks are'nt big on honoring those that deserve it either, hey maybe before you criticize war heroes maybe you should actually do something useful for your country rather than gripe and moan about what people whose job it is to do what's right for their country are doing. But boo ho, that would'nt be as fun would it little guy.

As far as defeating the US Military. They could never defeat us but they can cause a lot of pin. Cowards dressed as civilians and mot minding killing their own women and children are dangerous. Genocide or changeing their ideology through education. Kill them all? Didn't Hitler try genocide? Arent we supposed to be the good guys and not sink to their level? Justice is done.
