conventions in writing are the usage of punctuation and syntax and spelling
a writer is not a writer if there is no reader to read the piece and reading is comprehension and comprehension depends on if the piece makes sense, looks right and sounds right...conventions in writing assist the writer in providing comprehension aids for the reader.
events, conflicts, character creation...parts of the organization of writing and author's craft

I am going to pick letter C. I pick letter C because this word is close to "Conventional". It is conventional rules that make a story good. Of course, those expectations get twisted around in a really good novel!
