Feel free to paint any subject which you think and feel is close to your heart. You could only paint what you really know or have subconciously been a part of your psyche. "Visualization" is a very important aspect in the cycle of creative production- emptiness, hunger for expression, visualization, making choices, making changes, incubation, facing challeges, artistic production and realization, back again to emptiness. Its the whole cycle of artistic self expression and search for a meaningful life. Keep your 'inner child' alive and paint only because you enjoy doing it. Don't paint purposely to make money or to make a living. Life is too short and Art is a long process of learning.

Paint yourself. Put up a mirror and paint every line and imperfection you see, or attribute. Put a background color to impose the way you feel. For example sad and blue or bright and sunny.

A goddess of water--rain, rivers, the ocean....

Or an elephant all decked out in Indian textiles, bells, and jewels...

Or an orchid, from a close perspective, so the petals spill off the canvas.
