You can't legally get Microsoft Word for free. Check out OpenOffice - it is free and is mostly compatible with Word.

You can google Microsoft Office 2007 in your computer, and search for the Microsoft Office Beta version 2007. It's free, although is a trial version, so i'll work perfectly fine with all the applications until the real version comes out on January 2007.

Legally? Unless it is a gift or comes with your computer, you'll not likely get it for free and using a friend's copy has gotten tougher (they have a funky system to activate copies that prevent duplication). Using the online peer to peer systems for an illegal copy is also getting tougher as the manufacturers have gotten smart and are plugging viruses into those on the networks.

Also... I don't think Word is available as a stand alone program, you have to buy one version or another of Microsoft Office to get it.

If you are a college student, you may be able to get a brand new program very, very cheap. I bought a copy of Office Pro (the most expensive version) for a whopping $12 in the campus store at UT.

If you aren't a college student, find a friend who is and have them buy it for you.

Good luck!

Do you actually want Microsoft word or the functionality of Microsoft word?

If you want the functionality (mostly) of Microsoft word including the ability to open word documents and save documents in word format and also the functionality of opening many other types of documents you might be interested in Open Office -

Available at

www.openoffice.org

You might also look at Microsoft Works. A low cost alternative to Word.

Open office writer is FREE

and I use it all the time.

It's called pirating. It's also illegal. You'd have to buy it.

A powerful, and free, alternative is Openoffice.org. Get it at http://www.openoffice.org/index.html

It has equivalents to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. It also has a calculator and a drawing program, I believe. Take a look at it, I hope it's what you were looking for.

It can open and edit and save in the word format, too.

Try Open Office or FLVPlayer. Both excellent programs and they are free. Just do a Google search for the download sites. I like FLVPlayer best as it loads much more quickly.

Well you could really download from P2P or Newsgroups but that is illegal and frowned upon. Lol well anyway I would suggest OpenOffice since it is free and perfectly fine. Get it at www.openoffice.org. I don't think you will be disappointed.

If you got it for free, it would be stealing unless you received it as a gift.
