there have been studies done that show if you drink 8 glasses (8oz each) a day, that you will lose weight. but you have to cut out soda and other sugary drinks in order for it to be effective. if you drink a lot of soda, cut back and replace it with water. once you start doing that, your body will start to want the water instead of the soda and getting off of it will be easy and you can just go to water, and you will lose weight. dont stop soda right away cause you will get caffeine headachs that really really hurt. ween off of it.

I don't think so, as 'fat' is a complex factor. If your kidneys are functioning well, the extra water could help to draw off some toxins, and probably control your appetite, as with more water you're likely to want to eat less. Some excess weight is really from fluid retention in some people so those would not be helped by drinking extra water. That Xooma water sounds interesting and may be more helpful as it 'wets' you more, and it can include essentials to help the body stay in balance. Sweating from exercise is more productive than just drinking water, as helps it to come out using some calories or energy from the fat.

Not true. No proven benefit (contrary to the urban myths stated by others above) to drinking excessive amounts. Drink when you're thirsty. Period.
