4 weeks is way too young! That kitten should still be with it's mother and the rest of it's litter. It will not be fully socialized and will not have learned all the skills it needs, cats should not be seperated from their mother's until they are at least 8 weeks old, preferably older though, like 13 weeks old.
Earl is a cute name, it is generally more a boys name but it's your cat so call it what you like.

There's nothing wrong with Earl for a girl kitten: Gender-specific names are more a sticking point for humans than for cats.
When I was a kid, the family had a male cat named Sheba!

Hey, I have a girl cat and someone I'm close to named it Spike! Earl is a just a fine name for your kitten. Anyone asks, say it's short for "Earleen"!

Earl sounds more like a boy's name... but the cat won't care! If you like that name, then go for it! At least it's original, and not Tiger or Tigger or Muffin or Chester or all the million other trite, played-out names I hear every day.

I think Earl is an adorable name for a kitten. It might make other people more comfortable if you spell it, "Earle".

It's kind of a cute idea. How about Pearl instead of Earl, to give her a female name?
As long as your kitty likes her name, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. *LOL*

If your kitten is only 4 weeks old, you shouldn't have it yet. Kittens should not be adopted/sold until they are 8-12 weeks old.

name your baby whatever you want. cats don't care what they're called as long as they are taken care of.
And your baby is not too young I just got a 4 week old on Saturday and had it to the vet by Tuesday and the vet said there is nothing wrong with taking her already.

Your kitten is TOO YOUNG to be away from its mom, it needs to be 8-12 weeks before it can be taken from its mother. That poor kitten is going to be sickly because it doesnt have all of its immunities from its mother and its going to have behavioral issues becasue it was taken away from its mom too young.
Jessica, you need to find a new vet.
