Exact Audio Copy + LAME codec is the best

it takes a while to learn but everything else is noob

keep in mind your mp3 -> wav files will only sound as good as the source mp3s

i think Exact Audio Copy has a converter in it.
In any event, it'll let you copy CDs and save them as either WAV or MP3.

I think realplayer and vlc media player can do that, I would check first though.
