You will get a little less than 2 gallons of liquid with a alcohol content of 50 proof. (Proof is so old fashioned - in the US 100 proof means 50 per cent alcohol, so if you mix it with the same volume of water, then the alcohol content will be halved.

But when you combine water and alcohol, the resulting volume is less than the sum of the two. This is a result of the molecules combining.

It won't harm the fish. I unquestionably could desire to apply some distilled water in my tanks. I blend the distilled with my faucet water to diminish the hardness and pH. you would be nice basically including 2 gallons of distilled to eight gallons of faucet. good success! :]
