an ice pack is the best remedy. Carry handy insta cool packs with you when away from home and you'll have instant ice. Also, my son is a boyscout and takes an over the counter med with him wherever he travels....It looks like a white out ballpoint pen called: AFTER BITE. He rubs this on a sting from a bee, wasp, or if swimming from a jelly fish to alleviate the sting and the swelling. (ammonia product....) Convenient and will travel all places. I have two at home and one in each car also...inexpensive: about $3 each and sold at the local pharmacies: CVS/Walgreen's/Rite Aid...etc...

My family has one who attracks bugs too: We can him SWEET MEAT!!!! he...he...he!

Bee stings have an acidic compound which causes the actual stinging. So, after removing the stinger, washing the area with a soap and placing something cool like an ice pack is possibly the best.

At times it is hard to know the difference between an Bee sting and Wasp sting (which has an basic compound in contrast to bees - and best treated with an weak acidic compound like lemon) so in most cases, just an ice pack on the sting is good.

Placing an onion slice over a bee sting will draw out some of the fluid and help the wound to heal faster.

Hmmm, now that I look at the rest of your question, I realize you were probably asking about any good ways to prevent bee stings.

Unfortunately, I have no clue about that. Perhaps you could purchase a repellent.

Epsom salts are great to soak a hand or foot in after a bee sting. If he's really swollen see a doctor right away. If he's a little swollen the above work just fine.

i got stung once and I immediately put ice on it and it didnt swell. Also this is going to sound weird but .. my brothers are allergic to bee stings and they discovered a way they dont need their meds... they will shock them selves with a car battery and they wont get sick or swell or need a shot.its true they've been doing it for years.

Actually, you can put some warm milk on the wound and it will soothe it. Sounds weird, but my mom used to do it for me. It works. But make sure the milk is hot. Not just luke warm. It actually has to boil before you let it sit for 1 minute, then apply it. If you just warm it up and put it on, it isn't pure, and it'll irritate it.

Tobacco (can be from a cigerette), but chewing tobacco or dip is better. I did'nt know what to think when I heard that, but once I tried it, I was amazed. Try it.
