Most medical conventions are not open to the public...physician's receive invitations (with registration forms and fees expected) via mail.

I have no idea how a non-physician would be able to attend one of these conventions unless it would be a convention of available services and you have a service to provide. Even then, those are not heavily visited conventions. Physicians choose their conventions carefully due the time away from work, the expense, etc. Most physicians stick to conventions that will benefit them in their field of expertise.
