First make your guest list. One for engagement party (if you're going to have one), one for wedding, one for reception. . . Then, trim it down. Decide on a budget, then decide if you want to DIY (Do it yourself). Pick everything from that budget: The venues, caterers, rentals, dress, accomodations, florals, etc. Decide on a date before you pick the above mentioned things. It's easier to schedule a wedding that's at least a year away, because the dates you want are more likely to be open. I could go on and on. . . just go to the theknot.com, maybe get a coordinator or some software. You'll be fine, congratulations!!

#1. Figure out how many people you are planning to invite. Count both you side and the grooms side.
#2. Plan your budget. How much money can you afford to spend?
Is this to be a formal, church wedding? Informal outside wedding? High cost? low cost?
It's your day. As the Bride to be, it is you that should make the decisions.
calculate your items. Invitations, bridal party, date of wedding, food preference's, DJ, band ? Wedding gown & tuxedo.
You need a color theme.
Flowers for bride, groom, wedding attendents, Mother of Bride and Groom, Fathers of bride and groom.
You can go to; wedding planners.com for a lot more ideas. Planning your wedding should be Fun! Just remember, It's your day. That day that all girls dream about since they were very young. Don't let anything or anyone ruin that for you. Make it Special! I'm sure it will be perfect! Good Luck, and Congrats!

I've heard about that mental condition on the news - Nadia Suleman (Octo-mom) has the same one. Where women feel the need to be in constant wedding or baby mode as a desperate need for attention due to some sort of vitamin/not being dropped on the head - deficiency as a child. Tell her about that, and that you're here for her if she needs to work out those problems. Oh wait. you don't care. Ask her if she plans to be a "thick" bride or if she's gonna do something about that muffin top before the big day. Maybe she'll be too depressed to talk? Good luck.

Start with choosing a date for the wedding and discuss the type of wedding you want. In door, out door, informal, formal, big, small, things like that. Then call and see which reception places are available for that day. Visit them all and choose the one you want and works best for you. I got a wedding planner book those things are GREAT! The tell you all the things you gotta do and you can check them off when you are done. It also tells you each month where you should be at and what you should be doing. By the way after I picked out my dress it took 4 months to get here so don't put off ordering it too long OK. Also bridal stores have tons of free pamphlets in them with tons of ideas for invitations party favors things like that. Bridal gown magazines have advertisement things in the back and you can call to be sent tons of free catalogs for things too.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Get estimates and set a budget.
Remember not to overspend.
Remember that 25 guests that are catered to are better than 100 made to feel like cattle.
Make a list of priorities. If flowers aren't a big deal but food is, then you'll know you can cut from this budget to put towards upgrading the food & location.
Don't go crazy about planning everything - do it one thing at a time.
Have fun!

You should forget it. A wedding is a simply a large party, and no large party can ever be perfect; there are too many variables. Setting your sights on perfection is sure to turn an ordinarily lovely young lady into a extraordinarily unpleasant b*tch.

However, you best guide is the Miss Manners books. Unlike web sites and magazines, Miss Manners has no advertisers to please, hence no interest in getting you to buy stuff. Besides, her books are fun and easy to read. For instance, she can tell you how to keep Aunt Mary from bringing her ghastly live-in and how to deal with Uncle Dave's over-fondness for free champagne.

Congratulations, and have a wonderful, festive party!

There is no right way to do all of this. Everything will get crazy, just keep your head on. First you need to consult a wedding cordinater. She will have a questionare for you to fill out. Try and have a budget limit and a date. That would be a good start.

Well if you have the money I say hire a wedding planner. They know all of the places to go and how to save you some money. If not then Try looking at dresses and venues for your reception and ceremonies. Don't sign any contracts unless you are for sure going with that place of business.

Well you can find out who is going to be your maid of honor, bridesmaids, the style of dress, cake, flowers, etc. But most important you need to know what will be your budget.

Or you can go to a website where they can help you with everything that you need. That's what I am using right now and it's a great help.
Good luck and I wish you the best for you and your fiance!
