Yeah its fine. He'll appreciate it as well.......
Apparently, trimming a blokes "private area" makes their "private parts" look alot bigger, so he will be a hit with the ladies!!

The Hair can be removed but you need to be care full when doing it you are working around the dogs genitalia. I am a Chihuahua breeder and with long hairs(Chihuahua's) it is done more for a sanitary purpose that way the dogs urine is not on it's coat. How ever I do not suggest doing this if the dogs hair is shorter than your first crease on your index finger. about one inch

If you have a rottweiler, you should probably not have a maltese. Maltese are general very territorial and dislikes anyone but their owners. Many of my friends who had dogs prior to getting their malteses have had to eventually let go or separate the dogs because the maltese constantly got into fights with the other dogs they were living with. Chihuahuas are generally more friendly. Also, it should probably be a male. Females tend to get very messy whereas males are easier to take care of.

Just be very careful. My terrier mix will lay belly up so that I can trim her hair. It's so long there that it tangles up so I keep it short so that she is comfortable.

yes, just be gentle and careful. talk to your dog while doing it and praise him when he is still. my daughter has a long haired jack russell and when he has been groomed, she has to do it to him. if u do it fairly regular, he will get used to it. he may fidget alot at first but just persevere and keep calm.

Its not "excess" from the chihauhua's point of view. You just dont like the look of it. So I say leave it alone.

If you can get him to stand still long enough with you and scissors- well, just be careful what you snip.
