If you think the cure to poverty is Jesus, I agree. Will you take your Bible and go to Iraq where the people are so poor, and knock on doors and bring the muslim men and women there Jesus?

If you really believe Jesus is the solution and the answer, then a big group of good Christian servants would go, maybe even all the faithful from America, could go, go to the muslim middle east where they are poor and bring your Bibles.

Will you go? Will you really leave America?

Many have been called and have done so. I have done so. Not all are called to foreign countries, but some are and I was and am.
I have brought 1000's of bibles and food and clothing to people that live in little shacks. I have paid for peoples operations when they would have died from lack of medical attention. I have cried and buried their babies when they died because of the peoples ignorance and lack of medical attention.. And I am not alone or anything special I am just a normal christian doing what God has called me to do. There are many missionaries doing much more than I do and they are doing all they can to help. Do not think for one minute that I am blowing my own trumpet. Jesus came into my life and changed me and made me into the person that I am and I am grateful that he did.. I thank him daily for the opportunity to do what I do.. It is all about JESUS

Where exactly did you get the idea that the cure for poverty is Jesus? He never supported such a notion. He said “the poor you will always have with you, and you may do them good at any time.” If by poverty, you mean spiritual poverty, then yes, that is a world wide problem in all men, near and far. But before we can set a feast, there must first be a recognition of that particular kind of starvation, and a desire for the “food” we offer. That there is not, is clear. Men feed from the husks of the corn and though starved, are too proud to seek spiritual food from the One who said that He was the Bread sent down from heaven. As for missionaries, I shall not be surprised if some Third World Countries Christians soon send their mission workers to America to help straighten out the modern American apostate Church. We have as great a need. Our bellies are distended from spiritual malnourishment. Much like the German citizenry in WW II when the war was near a close, their economy in a shambles, and people were apparently full of the bread being dispensed by the German authorities, but were still dying of malnourishment; when it was discovered that the plentiful bread they were eating was mostly composed of sawdust.

What you don't realize is that a great number already have, and not just from America but from other countries as well. The Jehovah's Witnesses have been doing worldwide preaching work for years, including in Muslim countries. Don't worry, God's will is being done and will continue to be done right through the end of this system of things. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 24 that this good news of the Kingdom would be preached through out the entire inhabited earth and then the end will come.

I lived in Indonesia, the most predominately Muslim country in the world, for over a year and was involved in the preaching work there. It had been going on for some time before I arrived and, I can assure you it will continue.

thats fascism .You believe your religion is the only right religion, but then so do other religious groups.Stop trying to 'convert' and 'save' people and leave them alone. In case you havent noticed, the muslim already have a religion.I think you shouldn't mess with other people's lives. Let them pick their own paths. Jesus wouldn't save them from anything and he isnt the answer to anything. The most you can do by making them believe what you believe is to give them hope but that wouldnt do much and it definitely wouldnt save them from poverty.

Ps. this isnt meant to be offensive in any way.

no I wont go, and I wouldn't encourage anyone else to go either. its hard to tell anyone about Jesus when you don't have a head. Jesus said not to throw your pearls before swine. Obviously they aren't interested in anything Americans have to say, and it would be a foolish mission. God can use the Christians that are already there to tell them about the bible, there's no need to travel across the earth to be a missionary when there are ample amounts of people in that area to do it already.

The church I belong to sends humanitarian aid there, and all over the world. That is funded by donations from its members all over the world. The church also has a program where they teach people in other countries how to be more self-reliant. Everyone is happier when they are better able to take care of themselves.

Now, jim, that isn't really what you were getting at, is it?

For once I agree with you ;) Now it doesnt mean everyone needs to go somewhere else, we would need people here as well but you are definitely right, if everyone did follow Jesus there wouldnt be starving people and certainly no war.

Christians pilgrimage to third-world countries all the time, and they bring their bibles and spread the word. They do a lot of good work to help develop third world countries.

should i be the first to answer a sarcasm-question with sarcasm?

or is it more normal to just copy and paste my long list of thoughts i have on missionaries, just like most of the previous answerers did?

missionaries are bad news, period! no argueing about it, they are so wrong in what they do, it almost hurts me to see the above answers.
