a friend of mine sent me an .avi file from europe and when i went to play it the windows media player had started playing the sound, but told me it couldn't get the codec and will not show me the image... now, i like what i hear, but i'd really like to be able to see it... so how do i get this codec and why do i need it?

download BOTH of these, they work great:
g-spot codec: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html
download the one that says .exe not the .rar file. u probably have no idea wat a .rar file is.

k-lite codec: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
