Let's be honest. All kids want to be older or "grow up now". Think back when you were a child. Didn't you wish you could be older so you could drive a car, go to the neighborhood pool without your parents, have a job so you could make your own money? You get the picture.
I've got two daughters(almost 17 & 11). What I've stressed to both of them is that they will grow up sooner than they think. My oldest is now driving & has a summer job. She is also about to enter her senior year in HS. Even she admits life is moving too fast.
Tell them they're only young once & when they get older, life gets tougher. Why? Because now they are legally responsible for what they do. Plus as adults, there never seems to be enough time for everything you want to do, I.E. "No Freedom". ;-)
It's difficult raising children, especially with the onslaught of the information age. This generation has been exposed to "instant everything" at the touch of a button.
All you can really do is try to raise them to be decent people, always do their best, be a productive member of society, don't succumb to peer pressure & to be themselves. A tall order around.
The problem with parenting is that it never ends, even after they grow up & move out.
Good luck.

Most young girls want to grow up so fast because they want to be like the person or people that they look up to. As much as I hated to admit it this when I was I wanted to be just like my two older sisters. Although I wanted to be like them I never did the things that they did. I started having sex at a young age and if I would have known what I know now I would have not done so. I was the first one out of all three of us to lose my virginity and I regret it. I was always so sheltered away from the outside because me unlike my sisters had a father around and he made sure that my mother did not let me out of her sight. I guess that is why I did what I did trying to be something that I was not. I thought my boyfriend would not tell anyone what we did together but of course he did. You really can never trust anyone but yourself, sometimes not even yourself. Like so many other girls I thought that we were going to be together forever, but of course I was wrong. He was a corny boy and I do not know what attracted me to him. I guess because he tried to talk to me because I was and still am very loud, outgoing, funny, blunt. You probably can make the assumption that I turned him out from being a good boy. But like I said I would do alot of things differently if I could do it all over again it is not worth the hassle and heartbreak. My advice to my little cousins now boys and girls don't waste your time on trying to be someone or something that you are not. Get an education because being fast or out there will get you into a lot of trouble, and it is not worth it. Especially with everything that is going on in the world nowadays.

I wanna know this too! Even as a young lady I look back at myself and I couldn't wait to grow up either!!! Now at 25, I just wish I could stop time in it's tracks. How do we keep them from growing up to fast?

Yes, many things are 'coaxing' and
influencing them in that direction ...
Consider:
12 yr old girls used to play with babydolls-
These days some 12 yr olds HAVE BABIES
Keep them innocent as long as possible~

there will always be girls that have more than others, they want, want, want. When you find out the answer to that one please let me know. They really don't have a clue, some of us had to grow up hard and fast, we really don't want them to experience that, teens are sooooo hard headed.
