Actually, Delta's limit is 50lb. Most airlines with the exception of Southwest are all 50lb limits with in the US. Southwest still allows 3 pieces at 70lb each last time I checked. Anything from 50-70lb over is $25. 70-100 lb is $50-$100 depending on the airline, so keep that in mind. An extra bag is $25 or 50 depending on the airline. Keep in mind that size counts too. You are allowed to pack in something that is 62 linear inches or smaller before being charged. That is length+width+height. Most suitcases sold are with in the limits

Keep in mind you are allowed 2 carry ons at a max weight of 40lb and 45 linear inches or 22"x14"x9".

Try to distribute the weight as best as possible. Leave behind what you dont need. Pack toiletry items in your carry on, that way if your bags are delayed you will have them when you arrive.

Most likely going on vacation you will pack more than you will ever need. Lay out what you want to take on your bed, then take half. You will want room to bring things back. You wont need 10 pairs of shoes and 15 outfits. Pack more underwear than anything and just wear several of the outfits twice. Shoes do not weigh as much as a pair of jeans. The bulky items are going to be toiletry items...bottles of shampoo and conditioner especially so dont take the litre size bottles, try to get the smallest ones you can that will last long enough for your trip.

I know packing for a vacation you will look in your closet and think you need everything. Trust me, you wont even wear half of what you take. So, take what you really want to wear, but limit yourself. Ask if you really need it? If you might wear it you'll survive with out it, only take necessities.

Good luck and happy packing! Just remember your bathroom scale may say 50lb but when you get to the airport it could read 55 or 60. Those bathroom scales are not always calibrated correctly or lose calibration over time. Some think there is a conspiricy with the airlines to get more money, who knows. Just pack and repack if necessary.

ALSO it depends on your destination. Some carribean destinations only allow 1 checked bag and 1 carry on item because of the small puddle jumpers you will have to take to the islands. For a definate answer always consult the airlines website. If you are flying 1st class, you will have more lenient weight limits. But coach is definately strict with weights.

Check w/your carrier's website for their limitations. Remember: Take 1/2 as much luggage & twice as much money. I'm spending two weeks in Australia/New Zealand and the limit there is 40 pounds and am trying to whittle it down to 25 or 30 pounds because I love souvenirs.

You really need to check with your airline. Some have a smaller limit, around 50 pounds, I've seen them as high as 70. But you definitely want to check with the airline because some don't allow you to have baggage if it is overweight.

Check with your airline. With Delta it is 60 pounds per bag two bags per person unless you are in first class. Then it is higher.
