I used to drink a lot of Coke and Pepsi for the past 8 years. I used to consume 1 to 1.5 litres of softdrinks per day. My stomach hurts so badly and my doctor after tests mentioned that the stomach lining is inflammed and to go on medication. Now i cant drink soft-drinks anymore. I really hate these soft-drink companies for not disclosing any of the facts.

Get yourself of on a good pro-biotic. Get the kind they keep in the refrigerator at the health food store or vitamin store. You need active bacteria/acidopholus back in your digestive system. Get a probiotic with a lot of live cultures in it. It will rebuild the lining on your stomach. Make sure you drink a lot of water and stay away from acidic foods and drinks. I would avoid citrus for now.

My father has been drinking about 3 cans of Pepsi every day for the past 5 or 6 years. He hasn't had any health problems concerning his stomach. I don't know if the soda drinking really has anything to do with it. Then again there might be totally different factors between my father and you. Did your doctor SAY there was a connection? Possibly, the fact that you shan't drink soda is because it might interact with the medicine. I would just ask your doctor for more details.

I know what you mean, I did the same thing only I washed down Excedrin's with Coca-Cola. Your doctor can give you a liquid medicine when your stomach hurts. You've got to accept the fact that you can't drink soft drinks and probably anything with acid. Believe me, you can get used to doing without and after a short time you won't miss the sodas. Ask yourself, "Do I want pain and possibly a hole in my stomach, or do I drink water ?"

You might have gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining). Avoid carbonated beverages, coffee, smoking, spices, certain foods that aggravate your stomach. You are the only one who will know which things to avoid. Take the prescribed medication. Use over the counter antacids as directed. I think we all know that soda in large amounts is not desirable (high calories, lack of nutrition), Does the world need to disclose all the potential harm in it? Take responsibility for your choices. There is a lot of free information out there. Have a great day. Think for yourself.

Stay away from ANY Alcohol - no beer, no wine - if your stomach lining is inflamed, Alcohol can "eat" away at the epithilial cells that line the stomach/esophaegus and cause esophaegeal hemmorage-very serious.

I thought everyone knew that carbonate beverages contain carbonic acid. Drink lots of milk and non carbonated beverages. Do not fool with health food stores. I am sure he prescribed drugs to stop acid secretion.

I did a chemistry experiment that heated up the sugars from sodas, and green smoke came out. it looked like the sugar was turning into brown mush. I'm so sorry for your pain. the companies should tell the truth.
