I Will be purchasing aDVD Recorder. I guess I need a DVD/VHS combo to record old VHS stuff onto DVD.

Will I need to purchase anything else?

Also, can I just pitch the VHS tapes in the trash bin or should I throw in recycle bin?

Thank you in advance to all you electronic wizards out there.

The difference between progressive and interlaced (to put it simply) is the amount of pixels being refreshed within an interval of time. Progressive updates all the pixels at once whereas interlaced updates half the pixels, then the other half in the next interval of time. Progressive does have an image improvement, but will not be too noticeable unless you are looking for the improvement and have a large television.

As for the VHS to DVD recorder... I thought it was too good to be true also, but it turns out all you need is the unit you buy and that will transfer your VHS to DVDs.

You can just toss the VHS tapes. They don't contain any dangerous chemicals.

progresseive scan meant that the dvd player reads the disc at a constant... where as regular dvd players b4 used memory and read the disc momentarily...

progressive scan improves picture quality.. because dvds get scratched easily and when it reads the dvd non stop there is lest of a chance for the dvd to skip...

dvd recorders have gone down in price tremendously since last year... they are now 200 bucks where as last yr they were 500...
