I agree that Christians are too quick to condemn and judge. However, you should not be surprised - the Bible describes itself in similar terms. For example:
"For The Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight." (Hebrews 4:12-13).
There are other passages that talk about other aspects in terms of weapons (e.g. the "Sword of the Spirit"). Although I disagree with how Christians condemn a lot of the time, it cannot be denied that the Bible talks of itself and other elements of faith as a weapon in certain passages.

A Bible can be used as a weapon for a Christian against the devil and their problems. But l a true Christian shouldn't condemn anybody. That is not our responsibility. It is pointed out many times in the bible that people should not judge other people... That is God's job. Its the whole don't point out the splinter in somebody' s eye when you have a log in your eye. Nobody is perfect and to judge people on what they have done is just not right. I've remembered that since I was a little girl and while I will share my faith I don't act like I am better than anybody else. I am not better than anybody else. Its not right to guilt trip somebody into believing in something. The bible is a wonderful book but you aren't going to get anything out of it unless your heart is in it. Its a choice only you can make and its up to nobody but you. Its a personal choice. I choose to live by the best example I can. Actions speak louder than words. If somebody is curious than a window will open up for me to share. But you aren't going to find me stopping everybody on the street and condemning them when I know nothing about them.

Yes the Bible is used as a weapon. It is a weapon of the spirit. It just depends on the situation. I believe that God did intend the Bible to also be used as a spiritual weapon. Remember, the Bible is the word of God.

If I say that it is in the Bible how would you know? People get upset because that's just something people do, we have to learn to be more meek. When people get upset it hurts the word more because it makes it feel like you are using it as a weapon. But it's more like a shield made to make you wise so that you wouldn't be deceive by the falsehood, It's important to show that it is the word of the Father and that it is written so you are not taking away from the Father by putting it your own way as many do. All that we read and say that comes from our Father we need to learn who he his and how we must be we won't know what is needed, if we just take it an study it it leads to salvation. Yes he want us to use it but wisely not to push each other away but to be one with the Messiah in union in Truth. Knowing that we must use the word because any word would be just another book.

The word of God is the sword of the Spiritual armor of God and we are suppose to battle spiritual forces with it, Just like Jesus did when he was being tempted He said "It is written..." The word is powerful and useful for teaching rebuking and training in righteousness. It is not however meant to use to condemn anyone. Condemnation is from Satan...God gives us conviction through his word so that we can see the error of our ways and change, but we do not have the responsibility of changing people, our job and our ministry is that of reconciliation.

The Bible is used to show truth. Truth can be shown when one teaches but at times it is shown in the way of rebuking and correcting false ideas.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16)

True Christians don't engage in bibliolatry (the blind worship of books). But for some people, it's easier to spout Bible verses like some kind of mafunctioning robot than to actually attempt living by the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I really liked Jordan's answer!!
Ephesians 6:11 " Put on the full armour of God, so you can take your stand against the devil's schemes"
Ephesians 6:19 " Pray also for me that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I fearlessly make known the mystery of gospel, for which I am ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. "
I carry my Bible everywhere with me, so forth I am armed and dangerous...

If the bible is a weapon, then it is a double-edged sword. Most do. I know some christians who respect other people's beliefs, so they leave them alone about it.

Ephesians 6 talks about the full armor of God.
The last item lists like this...
...and the sword of the spirit, which is the WORD OF GOD.
Therefor, the word of God is a sword.
